Disney+ Seeks To Raise Price of Ad-Free Subscription Tier

Disney+ will most likely be raising the prices for its ad-free subscription tier later this year. According to the company’s latest earnings call, it’s seeking to bump up the cost of the subscription for the second time within 12 months."The pricing changes we've already implemented have proven successful. And we plan to set a higher price for our ad-free tier later this year to better reflect the value of our content offerings,” CEO Bob Iger said on the company call, according to a transcript published by The Motley Fool.In December, Disney+ raised the cost of its ad-free streaming subscription from $8 USD per month to $11 USD. Colossus digital publishing company Vice Media has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Another new-media company has fallen, reminding digital publishing businesses of yet another cautionary tale of industry. In a court filing, the company listed all its assets and liabilities between the range of $500 million USD to $1 billion USD. The bankruptcy is not expected to interrupt any of the daily operations at Vice, including at its flagship website, ad agency Virtue, Pulse Film division, its women-focused site, Refinery29 and fashion magazine i-D.
