Disney Could Lose Copyright Protection of ‘Steamboat Willie’ Mickey Mouse in 2024

The Walt Disney Company could possibly lose its copyright protection of the original Steamboat Willie Mickey Mouse in 2024. According to the Los Angeles Times, several Republican lawmakers are determined to put a stop to the extension efforts of the copyright protection after Disney CEO Bob Chapek publicly voiced his disapproval of Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act — also known as the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill — which bans the discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in kindergarten to grade three classrooms. The bill has been signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and will be effective on July 1. If Disney’s copyright protection expires, the 1928 Steamboat Willie animation will be available in the public domain, allowing anyone and everyone to utilize it for their own...

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Screenwriter Comments on Appearances of ‘X-Men’ Mutants

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which premiered earlier this month, has sparked discussions about the endless possibilities of the multiverse. One of the topics debated was whether or not the mutants from the X-Men series would ever appear in the MCU, and although the movie did feature a variant of Professor X, fans questioned why weren’t there more mutants from the X-Men series. Specifically, more mutants connected to Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff, who is a mutant herself. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Michael Waldron, screenwriter of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was asked why the studio did not take reference from the famous House of M saga. Waldron’s answer was clear: he did not want to shift the focus, “Yeah, we talked a...

Marvel’s ‘She-Hulk’ Release Date Leaked By Disney+

A leak from Disney+ itself has now pointed to a release date for the first episode of Marvel Studio‘s She-Hulk. The information has since been removed by Disney, and no other region has posted anything similar for now, which could suggest that either the date itself was incorrect or the team revealed the date too early by mistake. Provided the August date is correct, however, it’s likely that Disney will officially announce it in the near future, so fans of the MCU probably won’t have to wait much longer. Produced as a comedy series, She-Hulk will introduce Tatiana Masl...
