With Sony and Marvel Studios continuing to expand on their shared Spider-verse, Hollywood star Russell Crowe has now joined the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter. For now, details revolving around Crowe’s role remain scarce, but the Gladiator actor will be joining MCU veteran Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who’ll move on from his Quicksilver roles in Avengers: Age of Ultron to become the titular villain in the new film. The votes from 17 million anime fans are in for Crunchyroll‘s sixth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards ceremony. Spanning from fans in the United States to as far as Saint Helena island — votes came from more than 200 countries and territories — the top 10 countries of engagement were Brazil, France, Mexico, United Kingdom, and the United States along with new top 10 entrants, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Germany, and India. Disney+ has officially set an official release date for its third Star Wars series for the platform. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a limited series starring Ewan McGregor as the protagonist Jedi Master. The plot beings a decade after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Hayden Christensen will be reprising the role of Darth Vader alongside McGregor. The cast also features Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru respectively, as well as Kumail Nanjiani, Moses Ingram, Rupert Friend, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. Hulu has officially announced the revival of the beloved adult animated series Futurama from creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. After nearly a decade after its final episode, Futurama is returning to Hulu for a 20-episode run. The series initially aired its first five seasons on Fox before it was revived for three more seasons on Comedy Central. It will now return to production this month for a 2023 premiere on the streaming platform. The revival will see the return of original stars Billy West who voiced Fry, Katey Sagal as Leela and other ensembles who voiced various characters throughout the show, including Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman. HBO has landed a development deal for Doomsday Machine, a limited series based on Sheera Frenkel and Cecilia Kang’s book An Ugly Truth: Inside Facebook’s Battle for Domination, according to Deadline. The show, which is a co-production between HBO, Anonymous Content and Wiip, will star Emmy winner Claire Foy as the social media giant’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg. Doomsday Machine is a “riveting human drama chronicling the political and social minefields Facebook has navigated on its relentless quest for growth. The Batman will premiere early in IMAX theaters, Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday. DC will hold a fan event on March 1 in more than 350 IMAX theaters across the U.S. ahead of the film’s scheduled debut on March 4. The event, which is scheduled on the same date as the movie’s New York premiere, has already sold out at several locations, according to the production company. The Hollywood funnyman is now embarking on a new project, this time a new reboot of The Naked Gun. The comedy series spans three films and gives a fresh and humorous take on following a detective who is not quite qualified to do his job. After five decades of cementing itself as one of Japan’s most notable anime studios, Sunrise is finally changing its name. Originally founded in 1972, Sunrise was responsible for some of the most iconic anime series including Mobile Suit Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and Gin Tama. In 1976, the company was renamed Nippon Sunrise before dropping the first word again in 1987. As of April 1 this year, the studio will be officially renamed Bandai Namco Filmworks, almost 30 years after Bandai first acquired the anime production company before merging with Namco in 2006. In a new GQ feature, Pattinson dives into how he felt the role differed from his previous projects, going as far as labeling it the most difficult job he has done. The John Wick prequel series The Continental has just added five new cast members. Joining the prolific action franchise will be Supergirl‘s Katie McGrath, Rectify‘s Ray McKinnon, Never Have I Ever‘s Adam Shapiro, Fear the Walking Dead‘s Mark Musashi, and Malignant‘s Marina Mazepa. McGrath will portray The Adjudicator, a character that first debuted in the franchise’s third installment, while McKinnon and Shapiro will play new characters named Jenkins and Lemmy.
