Watch Carnage Perform DJ Set in “COVID Free” Thailand

Carnage is officially back. The famed electronic producer touched down in Thailand’s Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden last week for a monster performance at dance music festival RARE Thailand. The festival, which went down on Friday, December 11th, functioned as the country’s first normalized concert since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. It seemed to be a cathartic experience for Carnage, who, like most DJs, have been itching to get back to their normal touring routines in the absence of live shows. “I just threw a party with 10,000 of my friends in a Covid free country,” he wrote in a tweet, which features a clip from RARE. Check out the video below. It’s important to note Thailand’s progress in terms of the country’s C...

Infected Mushroom Remixes Pegboard Nerds’ “Hero” Ahead of Twitch DJ Set for Monstercat

Monstercat is the gift that just keeps on giving. To tie a bow on 2020, the label’s Holiday Remix Exchange series will see seven unique and genre-diverse artists pitted into a “Secret Santa”-style scenario, where each artist was assigned a track from one of the others to put their own spin on it.  Today’s gift came courtesy of the prolific Infected Mushroom, who reworked Pegboard Nerds‘ “Hero (feat. Elizaveta)” into their signature blend of psytrance and bass. Check out the new remix below. It seems a tall order to take on a remix for “Hero,” one of Pegboard Nerds’ most popular singles, which was released back in 2014. But perhaps no musicians were better suited to rework Pegboard Nerds’ mega-hit than Infected...

EDM.com’s Best of 2020: Performances

This year, the team at EDM.com is proud to publish four installments of “Best of 2020” coverage: Industry Leaders, Performances, Music Producers, and Songs. With no venues to perform at in 2020, it seemed at times as if artists simply blindfolded their eyes, threw a dart at a map, and travelled to places to perform—locations that are usually pipe dreams. However, due to the dogged fury of COVID-19 and the surge of streaming, these pie-in-the-sky destinations became the new norm for DJs who wanted to connect with fans in the absence of tours. To honor their creativity and seminal influences on the live music industry, we’ve recognized ten of the year’s best performances in dance music.  RÜFÜS DU SOL Live from Joshua Tree Filmed in late 2019 and released in ...

Ex-President Jonathan: I was judged harshly before 2015 elections because …

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday said he was wrongly judged by some of his friends and political opponents before the 2015 presidential election because of his personal convictions and the vision he had for the country. He, however, insisted that he does not hold any grudge against his detractors for their harsh criticisms. It would be recalled that the ex-President was widely criticised, before the election, for his approach to alleged corruption in his administration, the perennial problem of insecurity, and the sacking of some top government functionaries within his administration including the former Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, among other. Speaking in Abuja during the public presentation of a book ‘Dear...

Tulum’s Upcoming Zamna Festival is Feared to Be a Superspreader Event in the Making

Tulum is seemingly becoming a hub for in-person festivals amid the pandemic, and a reported lack of precautions is causing concern over repeated COVID-19 superspreader events. Even worse, the upcoming Zamna Festival is not your ordinary dance music event. The festival spans an astounding 17 days, according to The Daily Beast, and promises to be an “immersive electronic experience.” If recent past events are any indication, the adherence to social distancing and mask-wearing ordinances are unlikely. Zamna Festival, which is scheduled for December 31st through January 16th, has Tulum’s locals on alert, many of whom would bear the brunt of the effects of such events with superspreader potential. Art With Me, a recent five-day festival in the area that was like...

The producer landed on a number of virtual festivals, including the inaugural Digital Mirage Music Festival lineup, and he even played a breathtaking show at the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Over Halloween weekend, he took to the road in person to perform across California for his “Road Trip” tour. Now it appears he’s ready to hit the trail again. At the time of writing, due to COVID-19-related restrictions, doors will open to the Silverlakes Sports...
