Whether it’s a personal goal, like achieving a certain fitness level; or a professional goal, like attaining a coveted promotion; New Year’s resolutions are a key aspect of celebrating the holiday. These aspirations and objectives can mark a pivotal change in our lives—and yes, that includes DJs as well. Among all the conferences and panels hosted throughout this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, there’s nothing quite like experiencing the week’s once-in-a-lifetime raves. Enter The Caracal Project, whose performance at Melkweg during ADE 2022 would give any drum & bass fan a serious case of fomo. The surging producer threw down an epic hourlong set at this year’s record-breaking event. Hosted by fellow drum & bass virtuoso IMANU as part of his debut live album performance for Unfold, The Caracal Project wasted no time making memories. “One of my favourite shows ever,” he wrote. The set is a stunning showcase of The Caracal Project’s transformative sound. It wasn’t long before he rinsed “The lights on your face.,” an anthem that...
Kaskade and John Summit are setting the tone for 2023. After Summit shockingly found out via Twitter that his own New Year’s Eve show in Sacramento was canceled due to incoming “heavy rain,” the house music star didn’t let the misfortune rain on his parade. It wasn’t long before Summit was booked to perform at Kaskade’s third annual NYE extravaganza in San Francisco, where he’s set to perform at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on December 31st. The last-minute turn of events will see Summit take the stage for an hourlong DJ set at 10:45pm before a momentous performance by Kaskade through 2am. But the early hours of 2023 will look even more glamorous, considering the two Chicago-born dance music superstars have confirmed a high-profile B2B set to k...
“Funk the Halls,” presented by The Funk Hunters, is a cherished holiday tradition and welcoming raver reunion. This year, snow and frigid temperatures couldn’t discourage legions of Canadian ravers to dress up as Santa’s and elves and attend seven shows across Cumberland, Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. The snow was coming down in every city, but inside the temperature was hot, with ravers adorned in humorous Christmas sweaters, Santa hats, lights and more. Questions were commonly passed on the dancefloor about who made Santa’s naughty or nice list. No matter the answer, it was certain everyone knew they were on the funk list. The Funk Hunters opened their set with a remix of Mariah Carey’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).”&...

“Tonight is not about me. It’s about you,” a deep voice said at the start of Baauer‘s recent DJ set in Atlanta. “Strap on your dancing slippers, sweet cheeks. It’s going down.” The Grammy-nominated DJ and producer recently threw down at a secret warehouse rave hosted by DEF, a woman-owned media collective and event organizer. DEF’s goal is to provide safe spaces for fans to create “unforgettable memories,” hosting unique warehouse parties and recording DJ sets in striking 4K. DEF TV was named EDM.com‘s best YouTube channel of the year in our “Best of 2022: Industry Leaders” list. Baauer moved between genres with ease, effortlessly flowing between high-energy bangers and sultry club records. He took the crowd on a journey that had ...

As humans, our need for connection is primal. But sometimes we have to travel to the edges of the Earth to find it. We recently crossed the Pacific for Your Paradise, an idyllic destination music festival on the remote Fijian island of Malolo Lailai, or “The Island of the Resting Sun.” 6,000 miles away from the influencer-infested covens of Los Angeles, we discovered a community as vibrant as the island’s crystalline waters. Roughly 500 people converged on Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands for the 2022 edition of Your Paradise, the first since the return of live music in the wake of the pandemic. Nestled in a halcyon shoreline, the festival is what happens when daydreams shed their idealistic layers and become reality. “If you come to Your Paradise once, you’ll com...
After headlining one of the most significant concerts in electronic music history, it seems Kx5 are determined to take the genre to places it’s never been. Not even a mid-show generator fire could stop Kaskade and deadmau5 from engrossing fans at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, where they performed for a DJ set for the ages. The show was ultimately record-breaking in scale, taking the distinction for the largest single-day concert by an electronic artist ever in North America after drawing an audience of 50,000 and netting $3.7 million. But the numbers were only part of the story. Kx5’s show was a particularly special moment for EDM. Kaksade and deadmau5 performing as Kx5 at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum on December 10th, 2022.
