Watch Madeon’s Full Surprise LA Performance With Guest Appearance by Porter Robinson

This week, Madeon returned to where he first began planting roots in LA with a surprise performance at the Roxy Theater. The performance, targeted towards his “most enthusiastic supporters,” was one that fans surely won’t forget. Madeon delivered an incredible DJ set that spanned music from Daft Punk to Justice and everything in between. Porter Robinson made a special appearance during the performance of “Shelter,” their hit collaboration which spawned a tour all on its own back in 2016. During his appearance, Robinson even joined Madeon for an onstage launchpad performance, a hallmark of the earliest days in Madeon’s career.  “I want to point out what a cool, hyper energetic and considerate crowd this was,” Madeon tweeted. “E...

Lights, Lasers and Love: A Look Inside “GRiZMAS In July”

With his steady release schedule and special show runs, GRiZ is truly the gift that keeps on giving. His latest series of concerts, the sold out “GRiZMAS in July,” proved no different, bringing jovial spirit to the shores of Wilmington, North Carolina from July 30th to August 1st. The event first touched down for two nights at Live Oak Bank Pavilion before heading to the beach for a daytime pop-up on the 1st.  Marking the occasion were several unique sets from the beloved bass music artist, who released his seventh studio album, Rainbow Brain, in late July. Every sound in his repertoire, from deep throwback cuts and wobbly riddim to headbanging bass and soaring saxophone solos, made an appearance, making the experience truly one-of-a-kind. EAZYBAKED, Kilamanzego ...

Known for their off-the-walls, if-you-know-you-know shows, they’ve hosted everything from underground pop-ups and open aux concerts to high-profile artist showcases and curated festival stages.  The powerhouse brand’s latest stop was in Chicago at Lollapalooza, which was the first major multi-genre festival to surface since the onset of the pandemic. SnowGlobe Music Festival Cancelled Indefinitely, Enters the Great Beyond

Despite nine years of being “literally and figuratively the chillest festival ever,” South Lake Tahoe’s SnowGlobe Music Festival is now in permanent meltdown. According to SFGate, the local City Council unanimously voted this week to terminate its contract with the annual festival. The event’s 10th anniversary, originally scheduled for 2020, was set to take place December 29-31.  For years locals have complained about inordinate noise, bad tipping and leftover debris. In 2018 the Center for Environmental Health even sued the ViacomCBS-owned event for pumping excessive levels of benzene into the air. Still, the festival skated by, managing to renew its city contract for another five years—but only if it moved to a new location. This stipulation turned out t...

DJ Snake Shows Chameleon Colors In Electrifying 2021 Tour Debut

DJ Snake‘s return to the stage to kickstart his 2021 U.S. tour highlighted just how much his cachet has grown since we saw him last.  Immediately prior to the onset of the pandemic, February 2020, DJ Snake wrapped the biggest show of his career at the Paris La Défense Arena, performing in front of 40,000 people. It was an iconic moment, but no one could have expected the glacial freeze in momentum the music industry at large would sustain a mere month later.  As we’re entering the other side nearly 16 months later, artists are beginning to reconnect with their audiences again—some more successfully than others. For DJ Snake, however, the start of the Chicago leg of his tour was met with a particularly warm welcome.  It was a statement-making night for Snake at Ch...

Watch ILLENIUM Bid Farewell to a Career Chapter in New Concert Documentary

“It’s definitely been a fucking journey,” said ILLENIUM just before stepping on stage for his momentous “Trilogy” show last month. After three album installments and five years of a distinct creative vision, the world-class electronic artist was preparing to move on. But first, he decided to plan a party—and a big one at that—touching down in Sin City for a massive concert at Allegiant Stadium.  Documenting the journey from ILLENIUM’s Colorado studio to the stadium stage is a new short film by longtime members of the producer’s photography and videography team. Directed, shot and edited by Nainoa Langer, with additional footage by David Nguyen, the documentary blends bittersweet nostalgia with overwhelming euphoria in engaging c...

Burning Man Goes Rogue: Unofficial Event is Moving Forward in Black Rock City

The Burners have gone rogue.  An informal group has taken it upon themselves to launch a Burning Man-themed event during the time the original festival was supposed to take place. Due to COVID-19 the 2021 edition of the iconic gathering was officially postponed another year, a move that apparently didn’t sit well with the 10,000-plus people who now plan to descend on the playa with or without authorized organizers.  Despite no official affiliation with Burning Man, an Eventbrite page titled “Renegade Man / Plan B / Free Burn” has emerged instructing Burners that the show will go on. It notes that there will be “no infrastructure provided AT ALL,” including porta potties or even ice. “This is the ultimate camping trip for Radical ...

HARD Summer 2021: Here are the Highlights of the SoCal Music Festival’s Return

After two years, HARD Summer brought over 160,000 ravers back together for a weekend full of electronic music and long-awaited fun. With over six stages, dazzling light displays, and a giant glowing ferris wheel, the festival felt like a smaller EDC. Fans gathered like moths to the bright and vibrant lights, and the energy was palpable after over a year in isolation for most. San Bernardino temperatures hovered around 100°, but thankfully Insomniac provided copious free water stations, shady, grassy areas and misting stations for their festival-goers to cool down. The hydrating drink of the weekend was Liquid Death. Contrary to its aggressive name, it was just water, the idea being to “murder your thirst” and save the earth with their plastic-free recyclable cans. Stages: Pyrotechnics...
