Interscope Records teamed up with LACMA to host a special preview of their collaborative exhibit, Artists Inspired by Music: Interscope Reimagined on Wednesday (Jan. 26). To celebrate the label’s 30th anniversary, the exhibit features over 50 pieces of art that reference both albums and songs from Interscope’s impressive roster of musicians including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, BLACKPINK, Lana Del Rey, Snoop Dogg, Juice WRLD, Dr. Dre, Lady Gaga and more. Halsey, Shepard Fairey and Takashi Murakami are among the several artists that have contributed original works to the exhibition. Two arrested in Gombe over fertiliser adulteration
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects for buying and selling adulterated fertiliser in Gombe, the state capital. According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Mary Malum, in Gombe on Friday, the arrest was made on July 4. Malum said the arrest was made by Police detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department that acted on credible intelligence. The British Museum, the world’s first national public museum, currently holds 700 pieces of the Benin Bronzes collection, more than any other museum and other institutions globally, a former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. John Campbell has said. Fake wine factory uncovered in Delta
The Delta State Police Command on Thursday said operatives have uncovered a factory where fake wine was being produced for public consumption. Acting Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known in Asaba, said the suspected sole manufacturer of the fake wine was now cooling his heels in police custody. Edafe said operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) made the breakthrough during a sting operation in collaboration with civilian anti-cult volunteer corps. He said the suspect, one Kenneth Ajie, allegedly converted his house in Amadaga community in Ovwian, Udu, to the illegal factory where he produces the fake alcohol. Ekiti panel recommends N500,000 compensation for widow of slain SARS officer
The Ekiti State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Human Rights Violations has recommended payment of N500,000 as compensation to Mrs Ogunleye Ajayi, wife of a murdered officer in the disbanded police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The panel, presided over by its chairman, Justice Cornelius Akintayo (Rtd), recommended the payment of the amount at its resumed sitting in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday. Jegede is challenging the outcome of the election in which Governor Rotimi Akeredolu was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Eight persons were on Friday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged attacks on police stations and stealing during the recent #EndSARS protests. The defendants are Olatayo Abiodun, 25; Olaoye Toyin, 23; Fasoroti Ifedayo, 25; Ojo Idowu, 18; Adetayo Damola, 20; Owolabi Oluwaseun, 21; Ajewole Ojo, 21, and Moses Ifeanyi, 20. They are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony, willful damage, arson and stealing. An Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa, on Thursday, sentenced a 29-year-old mechanic, Sola Emorua, to death by hanging for armed robbery. The defendant was first arraigned before Justice Isiaka Adeleke on January 29, 2018, on two counts of conspiracy and armed robbery. Justice Adeleke, in his judgment after a trial that lasted almost three years, said the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and subsequently sentenced Emorua to death.
