Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun better known as Wizkid has just won his first Grammy Award at the 63rd Grammys. The results are out and Wizkid has won a Grammy Award for his contribution to Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl“. Wizkid was part of the writers and singers on the record alongside Saint Jhn, Blue Ivy and Beyonce. Nigerian singer and self-styled African Giant Burna Boy wins his first Grammy Award at the ongoing 63rd Grammy Awards. The “Twice As Tall” album has won the Global Music Album at the ongoing Grammy awards, due to COVID-19, the event was made virtual. The Grammys organisers have announced Burna Boy’s recent album “Twice As Tall” as the winner in the renamed “Best World Music Album” category. CDS: No disparity among security agencies

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. Lucky Irabor, Thursday said the insinuation that disparity exits among the security agencies in Nigeria is unfounded. The Army General said this during his visit with other Service Chiefs to the Nigerian Army 2 Division Headquarters, Ibadan. Other Service Chiefs on the trip included the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao. Ivory Coast names interim prime minister

Patrick Achi, secretary general to the presidency of the Ivory Coast, was appointed Monday interim prime minister while the country’s premier, Hamed Bakayoko, is in Europe receiving medical treatment, the president’s office said. “State minister Patrick Achi will take over the functions of prime minister and head of government in an interim capacity,” the presidency said in a statement. Tene Birahima Ouattara, presidential affairs minister and the younger brother of President Alassane Ouattara, was appointed interim defence minister, also replacing Bakayoko in that position. WHO: End to pandemic not likely in 2021

The World Health Organisation (WHO) believes it is unlikely the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19)will come to an end by the end of 2021. “I think it will be very premature and unrealistic to think that we are going to finish with this virus by the end of the year,” Michael Ryan, director of the WHO’s health emergencies programme, said at a briefing on Tuesday. “What we can, if we are smart, finish with is the hospitalisations and the deaths and the tragedy associated with this pandemic,” Ryan added. The WHO’s focus at present was to keep transmissions as low as possible and vaccinate more and more people.
