Help Decide Who Will Take Home an Electronic Dance Music Award This Year

Welcome to the Electronic Dance Music Awards, an international celebration of all things dance music. The EDMAs honor this year’s standout electronic dance music artists, events, labels, and executives. To show appreciation for stellar talent and contributions to the industry, awards will be given out across a number of select categories. This includes Dance Song of the Year, Label of the Year, Best Festival Series, Remix of the Year, and a whole lot more. Oftentimes, the winners of awards are picked by a few individuals behind closed doors, but this is not the case for the EDMAs. M Huncho Is Ready for the World to Listen

M Huncho is in a positive place right now. The North-West Londoner is speaking to HYPEBEAST from a villa in Barcelona as he gears up for his festival, Hunchoz Wrld; a strictly-UK affair that showcases the best talent across everything UK rap and drill. But sitting comfortably in the sun, Huncho reminisces on his five-year career that sprung to life when he was 22. “I only started making music when I was around 22 or 23, I’m now 28 years old. Now, life has changed as I’ve gotten older, I have had so many more priorities that I’ve needed to write about,” he tells HYPEBEAST. For those that may have not heard of M Huncho, the artist made his first stamp on UK music following the 2018-released 48 Hours EP: a smooth, melodic trap-rap effort that, you guessed it, took 48 ...

The Front Line of War

Bullet-proof vests, helmets, tourniquets, burn kits, trauma kits, gas masks, knee pads, pain medication… I’m one of three people checking thirty suitcases full of tactical gear and medical aid onto a LOT flight from LAX to Warsaw, Poland. There the suitcases will be picked up by men who are unknown to me, men with vans who will drive the aid into Ukraine. One of the vehicles making this trip from Lviv to Warsaw and back was shot at yesterday by Russian troops and one of the drivers was killed. “Someone died trying to get these suitcases,” says Peter Horvath, my friend from the recovery community who’s enlisted me in this operation. Peter is Hungarian, with Ukrainian blood and is a good man. “Hungarians aren’t very smart, but we’re strong,” he says, loading several heavy duffle bags on...

Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth Wants Global Domination

Sirens, shattering glass, and fire extinguishers are the paradigm of Charlie Sloth’s freestyle rap platform Fire in the Booth. While it remains a way to expose up-and-coming artists to mainstream media, FITB is now more of a competitive, no-nonsense, lyrical boot camp that stretches the talents of Britain’s finest wordsmiths, and everyone worth their weight in words wants a go at it.  With the world’s biggest hypeman at its helm, gassing up acts as they approach the mic, FITB has become an institution on the airwaves. The likes of Drake, Ghetts, Wretch 32 and Avelino, Kano, Dave, Bugzy Malone and Stormzy have flexed their unscripted lyrical prowess on the show. Yet despite it paving the way for many artists and their subsequent stardom, it all came to an end in 2019, one year after Ch...

Time Traveling Expert Steven Moffat Answers Our Questions About The Time Traveler’s Wife

Steven Moffat’s had plenty of experience writing time travel stories, as the former head writer behind the iconic BBC sci-fi drama Doctor Who. But he’s very clear on the differences between that show and The Time Traveler’s Wife, his new adaptation of the best-selling Audrey Niffenegger novel about a man who gets constantly unstuck from time, and the woman who’s loved him her entire life, despite the complications of his condition. “Henry and Clare’s life is not an adventure story. That’s the big difference. It’s a story of people trying to have a marriage, trying to be in love, trying to get home at night, trying to grasp every day of happiness they can have while facing the irritant of time travel,” he tells Consequence. “The Doctor loves his time travel. He or she wants to run back to h...

The Kids are Alright: How Arsenal Are Building for the Future

Arsenal’s 2021/22 season has been a story of highs and lows. On one hand, the team has picked up impressive results – back to back wins against Chelsea and Manchester United in April were a highlight – and is guaranteed to improve on the previous season’s 8th place finish. In the other column, however, are some less successful results, and the possibility of missing out on Champions League football. One consistent positive of the season has been the development of a core of young and exciting players. The squad’s star players this season include 20 year olds Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli and 21 year old Emile Smith Rowe, while the club’s goalkeeper and vice captain – Aaron Ramsdale and Kieran Tierney – are both only 24. “This is what you want as a young player,” explains Smith Rowe, s...

Delta Spirit Share New Album One Is One, Break It Down Track by Track: Exclusive

With our Track by Track series, we ask artists to give insights into every song on their newest release. Today, Delta Spirit aren’t just giving us the inside scoop on One Is One, they’re giving us an early listen to the full album. Delta Spirit returned from a six-year hiatus in 2020 with What Is There, a statement piece of a comeback LP. Without any in-person promotion or touring to be had while much of the industry was shut down, the band began working on a follow-up before the album was even out. Today, Delta Spirit are sharing an early listen at those efforts, debuting their new record, One Is One, ahead of its official release. Written in the summer of ’20 and eventually finalized during sessions in New York and Vermont, One Is One was produced by the band alongside Jason Ki...

Bauhaus Kick Off 2022 Reunion Tour in Portland: Photos + Setlist

Bauhaus kicked off their 2022 reunion tour on Tuesday night (May 17th) at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon. The legendary rock act’s set featured several covers and leaned heavily on their seminal 1980 album In the Flat Field. Interestingly, their recent single “Drink the New Wine,” Bauhaus’ first new music in 14 years, was absent from the setlist. Photographer Jeffrey Donavan was on the ground, soaking up the action for Consequence; the night marked the group’s first headlining show after they a trio of shows in late 2019. Additional US dates were scheduled in 2020, but naturally were canceled due to the pandemic. A Dream Setlist for Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction’s Upcoming Tour

Big news for ‘90s alt-rock enthusiasts and those who spent a little too much time playing Guitar Hero in 2007: Smashing Pumpkins and their pals in Jane’s Addiction will embark on a 32-date tour across North America this fall (grab tickets here). As two of some of the biggest and best names of their era, their “Spirits on Fire Tour” is already guaranteed to be one for the books. While Smashing Pumpkins carved out their own space in the grunge scene, Jane’s Addiction were doing the same with their funk-influenced brand of alt-metal, meaning there’s a lot of variety in store for concert attendees. But with over a dozen albums between the two bands, how could they decide which ones to bring out for their arena run? Advertisement Picking a setlist is a grueling task, which is why we at Con...
