The long-in-development Beetlejuice sequel has apparently found new life thanks to an unlikely source: Brad Pitt. According to Jeff Sneider of The Ankler, Pitt’s production company Plan B has officially boarded Beetlejuice 2, with the goal of getting cameras rolling as soon as this summer. Sneider adds that original Beetlejuice stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are set to reprise their roles, and Tim Burton is likely to return to the director’s chair. For obvious reasons, Alec Baldwin is not involved. Advertisement Related Video Rumors of a Bettlejuice sequel have persisted for years, with Burton, Keaton, and Ryder all expressing various degrees of interest in the project. In 2015 it appeared as if Burton had finally gotten the green-light from Warner Bros. to move ahead on a sequel, b...
Madonna’s latest endeavor includes directing a biopic about her own music career. But before the Queen of Pop gets her story to the silver screen, she has to find its star. Among the actresses who have auditioned for the role? Euphoria breakouts Sydney Sweeney and Barbie Ferreira — as well as Ozark’s Julia Garner. Jeff Sneider of The Ankler reports that Madonna’s biopic is one of the most coveted roles for young actresses in recent memory. Madge herself reportedly had her sights set on Florence Pugh, but considering how many other actresses have been through the auditioning process since then, we’re inclined to believe the Midsommar star might be “hung up” on other projects. Of course, to play a pop star as subversive as Madonna in her early career requires a bit of an edge....
Over the course of several decades, director Ken Kwapis has established a career working in both film and television, with plenty of feature work including Follow That Bird and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but also notably directing the pilots for two truly game-changing series: The Larry Sanders Show and the American adaptation of The Office. It was the latter assignment which led to his most recent project: the second season of Space Force, created by The Office‘s Greg Daniels and Steve Carell. While the first season had plenty of charms, including a truly stacked comedy ensemble including Carell, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Jimmy O. Yang, and Don Lake, those involved have been open about knowing that the second season could improve on the first....
David Lynch included an unusual forecast in his daily weather report on February 25th, predicting that “death and destruction” will come for Russian President Vladimir Putin in the wake of his invasion of Ukraine. Lynch revived the weather reports in 2020 after sporadically posting them to his website in the aughts. He’s known for enthusiastically shaking the camera on Fridays and faithfully reporting the Los Angeles temperatures before signing off with a wave. The February 25th report began like many others, with Lynch revving up like a boxing ring announcer to exclaim, “If you can believe it, it’s a Friday once again!” But his YouTube video soon took an unexpected turn. Almost five years to the day since his 2017 death, an anesthesiologist medical group has agreed to pay the family of Bill Paxton $1 million as part of a partial settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit, Deadline reports. Attorneys for Dr. Moody Makar and General Anesthesia Specialists Partnership sought the approval of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steven Kleifield for the deal, saying it would “reasonably compensate plaintiffs and avoid exposing defendant to an expensive and time consuming litigation” despite denying liability in the matter. Dr. Makar was the anesthesiologist for the heart surgery Paxton underwent to replace a heart valve and repair aorta damage in February 2017. Paxton died 11 days later after suffering a stroke, according to his death certificate. Advertisement Related...

Three Spider-Men got a bite from a spider, but only one got a butt from the costume department. As Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland revealed in his recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, one of the Spider-suits came with a “fake ass.” “I’ll give you a spoiler,” he said to the late-night host. “I’m not gonna tell you who, but one of us has a fake ass in their suit.” He also talked about the moment he noticed it, thinking, “‘Wo-o-w! Oh, hang on a minute. That’s not real!’” When it comes to who padded their Spi-derrière, there’s no way to know for certain. But that won’t stop us from spinning a web of speculation! At a fit 46 years old, Tobey Maguire is fairly well developed in that department, and may even be at the point in his life where he’s more focused ...
What do you do after you’ve retired from a record-breaking football career? You make a movie about your own life, of course. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Brady is producing and appearing in a road trip comedy that unites iconic actresses Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field. 80 for Brady sees Tomlin, Fonda, Moreno, and Field portray a group of best friends who travel to Super Bowl LI in 2017 to see Brady lead the New England Patriots to the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. According to THR, the film was inspired by a true story, so it must have a pretty juicy plotline to get its leading ladies to agree to take part. The film was written by director Kyle Marvin and Michael Covino, who are both executive producing alongside Jeff Stott. Brady developed the...
Despite the delays to Indiana Jones 5, James Mangold isn’t wasting any time getting his next film lined up. Deadline reports that he’s teaming up with 20th Century Studios to direct a project about the life of filmmaker and comedian Joseph Frank “Buster” Keaton. The biopic will be adapted from Buster Keaton: Cut to the Chase, Marion Meade’s 1995 biography about the iconic actor, comedian, and filmmaker. According to Deadline, studio executives have fast-tracked the film and made it a top priority to find writers for the project. Keaton, who died in 1966, starred in a number of silent 1920s classics like The General, Sherlock Jr., and Seven Changes. He was known for his slapstick physical comedy, paired with a consistently deadpan facial expression that earned him the nickname “Th...
Aziz Ansari is jumping from TV to the silver screen. The actor and Master of None co-creator is making his directorial debut with an as-yet untitled Searchlight Pictures, and he’s tapped Bill Murray to star in the lead role. Ansari will have lots on his plate for this project: In addition to directing, he’s writing the script, co-producing alongside Youree Henley, and acting in it. The project is based on American surgeon and New Yorker contributor Atul Gawande’s Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End, a 2014 nonfiction book about aging, end-of-life care, and striving for wellbeing over survival. Though not much is known right now about the film’s plot, Searchlight is banking on both Ansari and Murray’s background in comedy to help sell this examination of mortality. ...
