Dakota Johnson Cast as Madame Web in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe Film

Sony is looking to wrap up Dakota Johnson as the star of its first female-led Spider-Man universe adventure, Madame Web. The project was first announced back in 2019, with Morbius writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless working on the screenplay. Now, Deadline reports that Johnson is in final talks to lead the picture, with S.J. Clarkson (Marvel’s Jessica Jones, The Defenders) onboard as director. Created in 1980 by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr., Madame Web is a mutant with incredible psychic and clairvoyant capabilities. Call him Sir: Roger Deakins was knighted today (February 1st) at Windsor Castle, making him the first cinematographer to earn the honorary title. After being appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2013 Birthday Honours, Deakins was officially knighted in the 2021 New Year Honours for his services to film.
