At QAnon Conference, Jim Caviezel Quotes Braveheart to Fight “Lucifer”

In a bizarre appearance at a QAnon conference, Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel mixed religious bombast with quotes from the movie Braveheart as he called on the crowd to “[send] Lucifer… straight back to hell.” The For God and Country Patriot Double Down event took place at the Ahern Hotel in Las Vegas from October 22nd to 25th. Via Mediaite, the conference was themed around “loss of liberties” and was scheduled to end with a mask burning. The actor’s speech was split into roughly three parts: cool movie quotes, Biblical rage, and rightwing conspiratorial winking. “Will you fight?” Caviezel asked the crowd, as Mel Gibson had done in Braveheart. Without a Scottish soldier to say the next line, Caviezel was forced to play both parts himself, p...

Brendan Fraser Cast as Villain Firefly in Batgirl Movie

The DC Extended Universe is at the forefront of the Fraserssance. Already with a starring role on Doom Patrol, Brendan Fraser has now joined the cast of Batgirl as the villainous Firefly (via Deadline). Fraser will face off against Leslie Grace as the title heroine in the upcoming HBO Max feature. Firefly, aka Garfield Lynns, is one of the most enduring members of the Bat-Family’s Rogues Gallery. He’s also a pretty straightforward bad guy, as far as the typical Gotham psychopaths are concerned: He’s a pyromaniac who uses a fireproof flight suit to zip around setting blazes with the attached flamethrower, napalm bombs, and in some instances even a superheated plasma sword. Batgirl is coming from Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, with a script fr...

Jonny Greenwood Shares “West” and “25 Years” from The Power of the Dog Soundtrack: Stream

As if being a founding member of Radiohead weren’t enough, Jonny Greenwood is one of the most sought-after film score composers in the biz. Today, he’s shared two cuts from his soundtrack to Jane Campion’s forthcoming Western drama, The Power of the Dog, which will accompany the film’s limited release in theaters on November 17th. They’re called “West” and “25 Years.” Those who remember Greenwood’s soundtrack work from 2018’s Phantom Thread score will recognize the Radiohead guitarist’s penchant for pared-down, string-heavy compositions here. The soundtrack for The Power of the Dog, however, expectedly features some more country-themed elements, such as a fiddle and banjo. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as an aggressive rancher named Phil Burbank, who must come to terms with...

Close Calls and Misfires: Before Alec Baldwin Shooting, Armorer and AD Had History of Safety Issues

Last Thursday, a prop gun fired by Alec Baldwin killed Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and while law enforcement officials are still looking into the matter, her tragic death is thought to have been an accident brought about by oversights from armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who prepared the weapon, and assistant director (AD) Dave Halls, who declared the weapon safe and handed it to Baldwin. However, as an investigation by Consequence shows, the histories of both Gutierrez-Reed and Halls are full of other accidents: gun misfires, close calls, and complaints alleging a disregard for safety protocols. Gutierrez-Reed is 24 years old and the daughter of legendary Hollywood weapons master Thell Reed (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Miami Vice, Django Unchained, Once Upon...

In the words of Dominic Toretto, “The most important thing in life will always be family.” Paul Walker’s daughter Meadow got married over the weekend, and none other than Vin Diesel was there to walk her down the aisle. The twenty-two-year-old bride took to Instagram to share a montage of her beachside wedding to actor Louis Thornton-Allan with the caption “we’re married !!!!.” In the footage, Diesel — who also happens to be her godfather — is seen wearing a sharp tan suit and dark sunglasses as Meadow leans in to rest her head on his. Meadow’s wedding took place nearly eight years after her father’s sudden and tragic 2013 death due to injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle collision, and more than 20 y...

Ryan Gosling Cast as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Upcoming Barbie Film

If you’ve ever thought that Ryan Gosling exuded the same energy as a real-life Ken doll, you’re not alone: Warner Bros. has cast him to portray Mattel’s leading man opposite Margot Robbie in Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming Barbie film, according to Deadline. With Robbie naturally starring as everyone’s favorite plastic blonde, Barbie is reportedly aiming to begin shooting at the start of 2022. Gosling initially passed on the role, but understandably, the studio seemed adamant on nabbing the La La Land heartthrob. Details about Barbie’s plot have yet to surface, but considering Gerwig is helming the project, this won’t be your mother’s doll movie. The Lady Bird director co-wrote the script alongside Noah Baumbach, with Robbie also producing the film. Stay tuned here for ...

Hours Before Alec Baldwin Shooting, Crew Walked Off Set to Protest Safety Conditions

Approximately six hours before Alec Baldwin fired the prop gun that killed Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchin, several members of the camera crew staged a walkout to protest poor and unsafe working conditions. Two people who spoke to Consequence on condition of anonymity said that Rust’s assistant director — the person responsible for managing the production schedule and the “last line of defense” on safety — had a troubling history of ignoring safety protocols. News of the walkout first spread via a viral Instagram post on the @ia_members account, which is run anonymously by members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, or IATSE. The post showed a screenshot of a text message from a member of the Rust camera crew, saying, “The entire camera...
