Billy Milligan’s Other Personality Did It in Trailer for Netflix True Crime Doc Monsters Inside: Watch

Dissociative identity disorder — formerly known as multiple personality disorder — goes on trial in the new trailer for the Netflix true crime documentary Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligan. The film premieres September 22nd. Milligan’s case captured the national imagination when he was imprisoned in 1975 for serial rape and armed robbery. Rather than typical protestations of innocence, Milligan and his psychiatrist pleaded guilty by reason of insanity, with the wrinkle that the accused couldn’t remember his crimes because they were committed by one of his other personalities. At least one of those purported alter egos makes an appearance in the new trailer. “It still bugs me when they call me Billy,” a smirking Milligan says. “But I don’t say much. I don’t say anyth...

Anthony Mackie Officially Signs On for Captain America 4 Movie

No super serum, no blond hair, or blue eyes — but Sam Wilson has a movie. Anthony Mackie has officially signed on to star in Captain America 4. The Marvel Cinematic Universe favorite, who debuted as Sam “The Falcon” Wilson in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, debuted as the new Cap in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier back in March. That show ended with Wilson donning a new suit and officially taking over the Captain America mantle, a role Deadline reports he’ll now carry over to the big screen. It’s not yet clear if Mackie’s Disney+ co-star, Sebastian Stan, will return to reprise his role as Winter Soldier in the film. Longtime collaborators and friends Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have reportedly been working on a soundtrack for a new film about Marilyn Monroe. When asked about what it’s like working with Warren on projects like these, Cave said it’s “an incredible privilege” that he doesn’t take for granted. “In any situation, he wants the best for me and I want the best for him,” he said. “We have basically developed a way of working where we both relinquish control of the music we make together. We spend many hours improvising music together, sitting and playing in good faith without the politics and power grabs of many partnerships. We just let the songs find themsel...

Scarlett Johansson Joins Cast of Wes Anderson’s Next Movie

It feels like Wes Anderson has been a critical darling for the entirety of his career, but that doesn’t make it any less surprising to see arguably the biggest names in Hollywood fawning over him these days — nevermind jumping at the opportunity to work with him, too. Scarlett Johansson is the latest A-lister to sign on to work on the director’s next feature film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Black Widow star won’t be the only fresh face joining Anderson’s upcoming movie. Both Tom Hanks and Margot Robbie will also make their debut in the same film as Johansson. Between the three of those actors alone, it’s tempting to wonder if this project is Anderson’s attempt to shoot for the stars and cross over from art-house icon to blockbuster regular. Rounding out the cast are Anderson’...

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars Script “Feels Very Me”

A long time ago (May 2020) in a galaxy far, far away (San Francisco), Lucasfilm confirmed that Taika Waititi would be handed the reins of his own Star Wars feature film. Now, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind Jojo Rabbit has offered an update on the flick, telling Wired that the new movie “feels very me.” There’s reason to feel optimistic. His direction for Thor: Ragnarok brought some humor to the God of Thunder, and he’s already comfortable in the Star Wars universe, having helmed the Season 1 finale of The Mandalorian. But fans ready to go out and see his take on Jedi and smugglers shouldn’t jump to hyperspace just yet. Waititi said of the script, “It’s still in the ‘EXT. SPACE’ stage. But we’ve got a story. I’m really excited by it...
