Ron Perlman to Voice Optimus Primal in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Next year, we’ll get our next dose of the Transformers franchise, and it’s looking promising so far: Ron Perlman has been cast as the voice of Optimus Primal in the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. Collider reports that the Hellboy star will be portraying the fearless leader of the Maximals, reprising the role after appearing in the Transformers: Power of the Primes animated web series. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be inspired by the Beast Wars stroyline, bringing characters like the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons together with the Autobots and Decepticons. Unlike the robot-to-vehicle transformations of those latter Cybertronian factions, the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons turn into animals. Optimus Primal’s form is that of a gorilla, and if you’re going to hav...

Video of a Young Tom Holland Dreaming About Being Spider-Man Goes Viral: Watch

Back when Tom Holland was just 13 years old, he was cast in his first-ever major Hollywood picture, The Impossible, alongside Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. It was an exciting time for the budding star, and most of his interviews from back then were defined by his wide-eyed excitement at it all. Earlier this month, one fan was revisiting that period of Holland’s career when they made an incredible discovery: During one of those old interviews, a very young Holland can be heard talking about what a dream it would be to play Spider-Man later in life. In this particular video, the journalist recognizes Holland’s talent and appears to ask him which characters he would like to play in the future. “There are so many roles made every year,” says Holland. “It’s impossible to say exactly what you w...

Quentin Tarantino Doubles Down on Plans to Retire After His Next Film

If you’ve been hoping that Quentin Tarantino still has a bunch of movies left in him, don’t hold your breath: the filmmaker has doubled down on his intent to retire after his next feature film. He confirmed this on a recent appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher to promote his new Once Upon a Time in Hollywood companion novel. “You’re too young to quit,” Maher told 58-year-old Tarantino. “You’re at the top of your game.” The director-screenwriter responded: “That’s why I want to quit! Because I know film history, and from here on end, directors do not get better. Tarantino continued: “Working for 30 years, doing as many movies as I’ve done — which isn’t as many as other people — but, that’s a long career. That’s a really long career, and I’ve given it everything I have.” Related Video As ...

Every Fast and Furious Movie Ranked by Least Family to Most Family

“I don’t have friends. I got family.” For the vast majority of the Fast and the Furious franchise’s twenty-year lifespan, one overriding ethos has dominated the series even more than its love of tricked-out imported street cars: The physics-defying, bone-deep earnest love of family. (Or, as series star Vin Diesel so frequently rumbles, fambly.) In the Fast movies, having a family and a code by which to honor them is the most powerful force on Earth. It can defy the laws of governments as much as it can the laws of physics; it can even restore memory and bring back the dead. It can turn your most sworn enemy into your dearest comrade. And most of all, it can make Corona Lites palatable. With the latest entry in the series, F9, now in theaters, it’s high time to look back at the franchise’s ...

Tower of Terror Movie Starring Scarlett Johansson in the Works at Disney

Disney has long flirted with the idea of a Tower of Terror movie, but now it looks like that adaptation is finally happening for real. According to Collider, Scarlett Johansson is teaming up with Disney to produce and star in a feature film inspired by the iconic amusement park ride. Inside sources reveal that no director is attached to the project just yet. However, Johansson has tapped Toy Story 4 director and Inside Out writer Josh Cooley to pen the script based on Tower of Terror in Disneyland. The original drop ride opened in 1994 and a proper Disneyland iteration was then installed in 2004. The ride was inspired by The Twilight Zone series, but it was recently remodeled into a Marvel-themed attraction called Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout!, so who knows which v...

Jerry Seinfeld Set to Direct, Star in Netflix Pop-Tarts Movie Unfrosted

Have you heard the one by Jerry Seinfeld about the invention of the Pop-Tart? If not, you’re in luck because the comedian has inked a deal with Netflix to turn his stand-up joke about the iconic breakfast pastry into a full-blown movie. The Seinfeld co-creator will star in Unfrosted, the streamer’s upcoming film about the creation of Pop-Tarts. He’s also slated to both direct and write the deliciously bonkers project. In a statement to Deadline, Seinfeld revealed that the impetus of the movie came to him in the midst of quarantining. “Stuck at home watching endless sad faces on TV I thought this would be a good time to make something based on pure silliness,” he said. “So we took my Pop-Tart stand-up bit from my last Netflix special and exploded it into a giant, crazy comedy movie.” T...

Loki Confirmed to Be Marvel’s First Openly Bisexual Character in Latest Disney+ Episode

Before Loki even premiered on Disney+, a promo clip revealed Tom Hiddleston’s character is gender fluid. Now, in the latest episode of the limited series, the Asgardian’s sexual orientation has also been addressed: Loki is officially the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first openly bisexual character. Loki’s gender fluidity, something that’s canon in both Norse mythology and Marvel Comics history, was casually confirmed in a shot of a Time Variance Authority dossier on the time-displaced villain. His bisexuality, however, was a bit more explicitly stated. In Episode 3 of the show, which debuted today, Loki has a discussion with the antagonistic female variant of himself (Sophia Di Martino). When Loki mentions that he’s technically an Asgardian prince, his trickster counterpart asks if he’d eve...

‘Hotel Rwanda’ hero never joined rebels – co-accused

Paul Rusesabagina, the ex-hotelier immortalised in the film “Hotel Rwanda”, never belonged to a rebel group that sought to overthrow President Paul Kagame, one of the former rebels accused with him of terrorism told a court on Wednesday. “Rusesabagina was never a member of the National Liberation Front (FLN), he was a civilian … He is not a soldier,” former FLN spokesman Callixte Sankara told the court in Kigali. He said the prosecution had presented no evidence to substantiate its claim that Rusesabagina had given orders to the FLN, which has claimed responsibility for attacks in past years that it said were aimed at ousting the president. Sankara is one of 20 Rwandans being tried alongside Rusesabagina, who is 67. Prosecutors describe them as fighters for the FLN. Most were captured in s...

West Side Story Star Rachel Zegler Cast as Snow White in Live-Action Remake

Disney has found their newest princess. Rachel Zegler, the star of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming West Side Story film, has been cast as Snow White in the studio’s new live-action remake of the animated classic. Released in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was Disney’s first animated feature film. It also introduced their debut princess, thus setting the stage for dozens of others in the coming decades. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming live-action musical will be “a new take on the classic.” Fingers crossed it’s slightly less terrifying than the original movie, in which a princess is fed a poisoned apple by her stepmother, the queen, and enters a coma that can only be revived by a kiss from a prince. This Snow White remake has been in the works for five years already, b...
