Paramount+ is making major moves in the original programming game. The streaming service announced Monday that their upcoming film, Jerry and Marge Go Large, has cast Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and The Report star Annette Bening as its leads. The movie is based on the 2018 Huffington Post article of the same title by Jason Fagone. Jerry and Marge Go Large tells the true story of Jerry Selbee, a retired cereal factory worker, and his wife, Marge. While running a successful corner store in Evart, Michigan, a 2,000-person town about 80 miles north of Grand Rapids, Jerry discovered a loophole in the Massachusetts lottery. After buying countless tickets, the couple grossed nearly $27 million over nine years, using their earnings to breathe new life into their small hometown. David ...
The summer blockbuster is back and it’s headed for your record player. Warner Music Group has just announced a vinyl soundtrack series that will see the company reissuing some of its most popular compilations, including the soundtracks to the original Space Jam, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, and Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas. “The soundtrack series is a potent reminder of how integral music is to storytelling in films,” the company said in a press release. “Whether it’s an entire score by Alice Cooper in Welcome to My Nightmare or The Rolling Stones’ ‘Monkey Man’ blasting during the frenetic helicopter scene in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas, certain songs are forever linked to specific movie moments.” WMG’s new series will showcase i...
Paramount has unveiled another action-packed trailer for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, which further unfurls the background story for the traditionally silent assassin. Part of Hasbro’s rebooted G.I. Joe cinematic franchise, the movie stars Crazy Rich Asians actor Henry Golding in the titular role, with Andrew Koji (Warrior) playing his ninja counterpart Storm Shadow. Like the first teaser, the clip is soundtracked by A$AP Ferg’s “New Level”. It begins with the future Snake Eyes kicking ass at an underground fight club. After saving the life of Koji’s character, he is recruited by a shadowy Japanese clan called the Arashikage. Offered the opportunity to find a new home, he undergoes strict training and is presented with the “three challenges of the warrior” in order to “gain...
“They said, ‘Your character is gonna be a very good-looking guy,” said Steve Buscemi, answering a question about how much he knew in advance about the Fargo character written specifically for him, at the Tribeca Festival’s 25th anniversary screening of Fargo on Friday (June 18th). He was, of course, joking about the fact that multiple characters refer to his Carl Showalter — one of two semi-competent and ill-fated criminals central to the movie’s harebrained kidnapping scheme — as a “little guy” who’s “kinda funny-looking” in a “general kinda way.” These descriptions would have been fresh in Buscemi’s mind, because he sat and rewatched Fargo with the audience on Friday evening; before director Joel Coen and star Frances McDormand arrived for the Q&A. It was billed as a Fargo reunion, b...
The Pitch: Steven Soderbergh has been busier than ever since returning to filmmaking in 2017; No Sudden Move is his six feature in less than four years, premiering at the Tribeca Festival before making its way to HBO Max in July. No Sudden Move follows Curt Goynes (Don Cheadle) and Ronald Russo (Benicio del Toro) who are hired to “babysit” the family of Matt Wertz (David Harbour) at gunpoint while fellow criminal Charley (Kieran Culkin) takes Matt to retrieve a valuable, unspecified document from Matt’s boss’s office. Sounds simple enough, but the complications spiderweb out like cracked glass: Matt’s wife Mary (Amy Semietz) isn’t certain whether to trust her husband; Ronald and Curt aren’t sure whether to trust their shady boss Jones (Brendan Fraser); add in Ronald’s girlfriend Vanessa (J...
At its heart, Pixar’s latest, Luca, is a film about adventure: the fear and thrill of stepping outside of your comfort zone, throwing caution to the wind, and experiencing the world outside your door. In the case of the film’s titular sea creature (voiced by Jacob Tremblay) that adventure comes from an unforgettable summer spent with a rambunctious fellow sea monster named Alberto (voiced by Jack Dylan Grazer) in the sleepy Italian seaside town of Portorosso. Together, the two trade their fins for legs, learn to fit in with the rest of the island’s colorful characters, and dream of freedom and possibility — and owning a Vespa. Fitting, then, that director Enrico Cosarosa would tap one of contemporary film music’s most adventurous composers, Dan Romer, to provide the score for Luc...
Wiz Khalifa has been cast as funk legend George Clinton in Spinning Gold, an upcoming biopic about Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart. As Deadline reports, the film will focus on the rise of Bogart’s labels, Casablanca and Buddah Records, throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s. In the latter decade, Casablanca put out records by the iconic psych-soul collective Parliament, which Clinton fronted. The Spinning Gold cast will also feature Jeremy Jordan as Bogart, Tayla Parx as Donna Summer, Ledisi as Gladys Knight, and Lyndsy Fonseca as music manager Joyce Biawitz. Other supporting actors include Jason Derulo, Jay Pharaoh, Jason Isaacs, Peyton List, and Alex Gaskarth. A film like this requires a top-tier soundtrack, and this is already shaping up to be a good one. The Spinning Gold cast will r...
For his latest role, Nicolas Cage channels Keanu Reeves and Liam Neeson while playing a truffle hunter in a revenge thriller called PIG. Ahead of the movie’s release in July, Neon Films has released the trailer to give moviegoers a sneak peek. Cage stars as a reclusive character named Rob who lives alone in the wilderness of Oregon. One night, his remote cabin is attacked and she is taken. Bloodied and beaten, he goes in search of the pig, although he is discouraged to continue looking for her. Relat...

Fellow Tune Squad team member Lola Bunny also makes an appearance between the likes of Anthony Ramos...
When Anthony Bourdain died of suicide in 2018, it hit the world with a force of an earthquake: he was a man who coupled a devil-may-care cynicism with a huge, beating heart that shone through in everything from his dishes to his documentaries. In that spirit, Morgan Neville‘s Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain takes us straightforwardly through Bourdain’s highs and lows: His early days as a chef, his runaway success with Kitchen Confidential, the travel shows that would come, his struggles with drug addiction on both sides of his life, and so much more. His friends and colleagues pop on screen as talking heads — John Lurie, brother Chris, fellow chef David Chang — reflecting on his incredible, mercurial nature…before shaking their heads at what he’d become near the en...
Kevin Bacon is officially joining the upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger. Not to be confused with those other Avengers, the film is Legendary Entertainment’s reboot of the 1984 Z-movie superhero comedy by Troma Entertainment. Bacon will be portraying a villain opposite Peter Dinklage, who’s slated to star as the film’s title character. Thus far, Jacob Tremblay and Taylour Paige are also signed on to the reboot. The original Toxic Avenger movie told the story of Melvin Ferd, an ordinary janitor who becomes a mutant after being pushed into a giant vat of toxic waste. Upon this unfortunate transformation, he becomes an unlikely defender of his family, friends and the community of Tromaville against gangs, drug dealers and a criminal overlord named Cigar Face, subverting virtually every...
