In celebration of Bungie‘s 30th anniversary — which just happens to coincide with the release of Halo Infinite — the long-awaited Destiny 2 and Halo crossover event is finally here. Rockstar Games is adding a new episode of single-player content to Grand Theft Auto Online, dubbed “The Contract,” next week. The new chapter DLC will star rapper Dr. Dre alongside Grand Theft Auto 5 characters Franklin Clinton and Lamar Davis, who embark on an entirely new mission to track down files containing Dre’s unreleased music for the franchise. The mission isn’t entirely fictional; Dre is actually gearing up to drop unreleased tracks on Grand Theft Auto, and the new episode requires players to retrieve a lost smartphone containing those songs. After pleading guilty to federal piracy charges back in October, hacker Gary “GaryOPA” Bowser has now reached a settlement with Nintendo, agreeing to pay the gaming giant $10 million USD. As a member of Team Xecuter, Bowser was responsible for designing and subsequently selling devices that allowed users to play pirated games through a modchip on the Nintendo Switch. He was indicted in September of 2020 on federal charges at a U.S. District Court and could be subject to jail time after pleading guilty despite coming to a settlement with the Japanese video game company in a separate civil lawsuit. A month after its initial release, Activision has now announced the Season 1 content roadmap for both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific. As you’d expect, the first season of the two titles will offer gamers a whole range of new maps, weapons and operators to play with. On the Vanguard front, two new maps will kick off the period, with the introduction of Paradise and the return of Radar, a remastered version of Dome from the 2008 installment World at War. Sony is reportedly preparing to launch its own equivalent of Microsoft‘s Xbox Game Pass. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the Japanese gaming giant is hoping to offer PlayStation players its own subscription plan for access to its massive library of games. The project is currently codenamed Spartacus and will offer multiple tiers depending on your budget.
