With 2022 just a few days, it’s time for the yearly round-ups, and now Nintendo has offered fans a look at their best-selling indie games of 2021 for the Switch. 2021 has been a massive year for the console, with many around the world still spending most of their time at home with it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After an incredibly successful release for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, back in 2020, the Japanese gaming giant followed it up with a few big titles this past year too, including Monster Hunter Rise, Metroid Dread, and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Of course, aside from AAA games from large publishers and developers, one of the most beloved aspects of the Switch is its access to smaller indie titles that come out to surprise you every now and t...

Unfortunately for those looking to grab hold of a Nintendo Switch, it now seems that supply shortages will last until at least early 2022. According to Japanese news outlet Kyoto Shimbun, the gaming giant’s president Shuntaro Furukawa was quoted as saying that the ongoing semiconductor shortage, compiled with severe logistical delays across the globe, will likely continue to affect production and deliveries of new Switch devices through till the end of the year and beyond, potentially extending into the first few months of 2022. He hasn’t given any projections beyond that time frame, but given that the two factors affecting the console are out of the company’s control, it’s possible Nintendo could fall victim to even further delays. The Switch isn’t the only gaming console to be affec...
Riot Games, the publisher of video game titles including League of Legends, will settle a 2018 lawsuit filed by former female employees for $100 million USD. Two former female employees allege in the suit that the company engaged in unequal pay and sexual harassment. Prior to this, gaming website Kotaku published a report detailing negative employee experiences within the company. In a press release, California’s Department of Fair Employment & Housing (DFEH) wrote that the company had agreed to pay $100 million USD and committed to systemic reforms “to resolve allegations of workplace sex discrimination and harassment.” The suit covers violations made against “approximately 1,065 women employees and 1,300 women contract workers.” “The decree requires comprehensive injunctive relief in...
Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy Entertainment is now teaming up with Chinese gaming giant Tencent to create a new, free-to-play shooter. Currently codenamed Vanguard, the upcoming title will focus on a co-operative PvE experience with a narrative element directed by Remedy itself. It’ll utilize the Unreal Engine and be available on both PC and consoles, with Tencent localizing the game for the Asia region while Remedy is responsible for its launch elsewhere on the globe. Vanguard also comes following Tencent’s investment in Remedy back in May this year, when it acquired a 3.8% stake in the v...
Game modder Ultra.Boi has just released a meta-version of the classic FPS game DOOM II. In a lighthearted take on the NFT faux pas of right-clicking or screenshotting, the mod substitutes the BFG with a Canon camera where instead of shooting demons, you are grabbing a quick photo of a Bore Ape where the value of the NFT drops by $999,999,999. Used with gzdoom, Ultra.Boi has a download for the mod over at moddb. Harry Potter fans will be rather disappointed to learn that Electronic Arts had almost created an MMORPG based around the beloved franchise. Speaking to Twitch streamer The Real Brandolorian, former EA director of product marketing Kim Salzer revealed that the giant games studio had set its eyes on an online multiplayer title set in the Harry Potter world but the company ultimately “killed” the project because it didn’t believe that the IP’s longevity would last past two years. “A big one for me, because I was so personally involved in it, and it’s such a huge IP that has lived on is an online massively multiplayer game for Harry Potter,” Salzer said when asked about one of her most memorable games that never came to be. “We did all the research, we had the beta built out, it was a combina...
Logan Paul has once again upset the internet with his latest antics. A long-time Pokémon fan, Paul has often taken to social media to share his love for the trading card game whether it is through box break reveals or showing off his $1 million USD gem mint 10-graded Pokémon Charizard. Now, the older of the Paul brothers finds himself in hot water from Pokémon fans after posting a video to his Twitter that showed him completing his “first epoxy resin project.” The DIY project sees the YouTuber douse 15 Game Boy Colors in resin just to make a tabletop. Being that these devices are now considered collectible gaming consoles, his video sparked outrage from the vintage collector community. Amongst those who criticized Paul was Bob Wulff, a fellow YouTuber. Many others were quick to point out t...
