In a presentation to investors, Nintendo said the system could be released in “20XX.” “Nintendo plans to continue to expand its business around the core concept of creating unique integrated hardware-software products,” the company wrote in its presentation, explaining that the 2017 release of the Nintendo Switch console “introduced the ability to link to a Nintendo account and created a foundation for maintaining relationships with consumers going forward.” When pressed for details on the new gaming system during a Q&A session, Nintendo executives remained quiet. “We are still going through internal discussion on concept, timing, ...

Buying a Nintendo Switch This Holiday Season Will Be Much More Difficult Due To Chip Shortages

With the recent announcement of chip shortages, Nintendo is one of the most recent electronic devices that will have to face production issues and the possibility of being unable to meet demands. Nikkei Asia recently reported that the Japanese gaming console company may be making approximately 20% fewer Nintendo Switch consoles by the end of the fiscal year. This would mean there will be about 24 million fewer units available for sale, making it much more difficult to purchase the consoles over the holiday season. Though this puts a pin in Nintendo’s production, the company has had quite a successful 2021 year with the release of the Switch version of Wii U’s Super Mario 3D World which was bundled with Bowser’s Fury. Together, the package sold almost 6 million copies. With the release of t...
