Sony has now announced the launch of a new PlayStation loyalty program called “PlayStation Stars.” The program is entirely free to join for those on the console platform and you’ll be able to earn points through playing games, purchasing things on the PlayStation Store, earning Trophies, and winning tournaments. The long-running Aliens franchise is getting a new title. Following Predator: Hunting Grounds and Aliens: Fireteam Elite, which were released in 2020 and 2021, respectively, developer Survios is introducing yet another game to the lineup. In collaboration with 20th Century Games, the game will be developed by VR studio Survios and will be a single-player action-horror game. Although currently untitled, the developer plans to reveal more details at its panel, “Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe,” at San Diego Comic-Con on July 21. SEGA has just announced that pre-orders for its follow-up to the 2019 Genesis Mini are now open. This second version is more compact and advanced with a new line-up of over 50 games, including games from the SEGA CD era — there’s even full-motion video. Sized at 12cm (W) x 3.2cm (H) x 11.6cm (D), the SEGA Genesis Mini 2 comes with one high-speed HDMI cable, a USB power cable, AC adapter, and one controller. Netflix’s hit Korean zombie period drama Kingdom is now receiving its own video game. Destined for both PC and mobile platforms, Kingdom: The Blood is currently being developed by South Korean developer Action Square, which has previously worked on Blade II – The Return of Evil. As you can see in the gameplay trailer above, the experience is largely reminiscent of the television series, with players immersed in a third-person perspective, running around slaying zombies and foes with choreographed swings of a longsword. KOEI Tecmo has released an expanded version of the hack and slash game Warriors Orochi 3. Originally launched as Musō Orochi 2 in Japan in 2011, the Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition includes all of the features of the original with new characters, storylines and modes, offering a more in-depth gameplay experience. The revamped edition premiered on Tuesday for PC via Steam. This version comes with the downloadable content that’s already been released on other platforms, such as new episodes. In “Duel Mode,” elements of versus battles and card battles are brought together for action-packed gameplay, while in “Gauntlet Mode,” players can join in on party battles. Following early word, more rumors have surfaced about the release of a follow-up to the Nintendo Switch. The rumors are noting that the “Nintendo Switch Pro” (tentative name) could be officially announced before the end of the year. Nintendo’s current flagship hybrid console was originally released March 3, 2017 and marked innovation with its home console/portable device design. Nintendo insider Pixelpar recently took to Twitter to outline the information he has picked up regarding the potential new console. Developed by Monolith Soft, the RPG will debut on the Nintendo Switch and continues the franchise’s storyline, centered on six soldiers from the hostile nations of Angus and Keeves. Nintendo is introducing a new addition to the Kirby series. Available on the Switch, Kirby’s Dream Buffet will launch on the Nintendo eShop sometime this summer. The game challenges up to four players to race against one another to get to a massive cake first. Rather than driving cars, however, the colorful Kirby-like characters roll to the finish line, dodging ice cream cones and other obstacles along the way.
