Amazon Prime Mistakes Steel Panther for Mötley Crüe on Documentary Page
Shout at the devil? More like shout at the graphic designer. In a hilarious snafu, Amazon Prime has mistakenly used a photo of modern glam-metal satirists Steel Panther in the splash artwork for the 2020 Mötley Crüe documentary, Rock ‘n Roll Icon: Mötley Crüe. The latter’s logo is emblazoned over the wrong band. Even more bizarre, an actual picture of current-day Mötley Crüe can be seen in the top right, but it’s cutoff so you can’t see their faces. It appears a Steel Panther fan discovered the image, with frontman Michael Starr taking to Instagram to repost it. Adding further irony, Steel Panther are known for parodying ’80s glam metal bands like Mötley Crüe, which is the source of beef between Starr and Nikki Sixx. Hanoi Rocks guitarist Andy McCoy says he’s never received an apology from Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil, whose infamous 1984 car crash resulted in the death of the band’s drummer, Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley. Neil was driving his car when he and Dingley went on a liquor run in Redondo Beach, California, in December 1984. On the way back, the Mötley Crüe vocalist crashed into another vehicle, killing Dingley and leaving both occupants of the other car with brain damage. Neil, who had a .17 blood-alcohol level, ended up spending 15 days in jail for the incident and was ordered to pay $2.6 million to the victims of the crash. Jeff LaBar, longtime guitarist of the glam metal band Cinderella, has died at age of 58. LaBar’s son, Sebastian, shared the news of his father’s passing in a social media post on Wednesday (via Blabbermouth). “So i just got the call… Jeff LaBar, my father, my hero, my idol, passed away today,” Sebastian wrote, “I’m currently at a loss for words. I love you pop.” A cause of death was not disclosed. LaBar joined Cinderella in 1985 right as the band hit the studio to record their debut album, Night Songs.
