Goldenvoice in Talks to Develop Mass Vaccination Site in Coachella Valley
As California’s Riverside Country struggles to mitigate the region’s surge in COVID-19 infections, Goldenvoice has stepped up to offer some assistance. According to Palm Springs ABC affiliate station KESQ, Goldenvoice—the event promoter behind Coachella and Stagecoach—has offered to help create a mass vaccination site in the heart of Coachella Valley. The Department of Public Health in Riverside County currently has 22,000 vaccine doses on-hand to distribute. Talks between the state and Goldenvoice are ongoing. In a new effort to expand representation for Black voices within its organization and its festivals, Goldenvoice has launched a new organizational unit called “GV Black.” Goldenvoice, producer of famed California-based music festivals Coachella, Stagecoach, and more, has shared the announcement of the new team’s creation on Coachella’s social media channels. Coachella Announces 2021 Dates After Cancellation News
Now Coachella is being planned for April 9-11 and April 16-18, 2021, and Stagecoach is scheduled for April 23-25, 2021. Following news Wednesday Coachella and Stagecoach festivals’ October dates were canceled by county health officials, promoter Goldenvoice announced new dates on Thursday (June 11) in 2021 for the Indio, California, events. Now Coachella is being planned for April 9-11 and April 16-18, 2021, Stagecoach is scheduled for April 23-25, 2021. Coachella’s 2020 edition was previously scheduled to take place April 10-12 and April 17-19 with headliners Travis Scott, Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine. After days of widespread speculation surrounding the official cancellation of Coachella‘s 2020 event in October, the fabled Indio musical and arts festival’s fate has been sealed. Coachella will no longer take place this year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the festival’s representatives announced new dates for April 2021.
