Simu Liu Joins Cast of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Film
Turns out Ken isn’t the only man in Barbie’s life: Simu Liu has been cast in Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming film based on the beloved Mattel franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Liu is will join previously-announced cast members Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and America Ferrera in the Barbie movie. Robbie — who’s also producing the film — will star as the eponymous doll, with Gosling as Ken. Liu and Ferrera’s roles are still under wraps, as are many other details about the film. Liu became a household name last year with his role as the title character in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He’ll presumably reprise the role in Disney+’s forthcoming sequel. Ryan Gosling Cast as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Upcoming Barbie Film
If you’ve ever thought that Ryan Gosling exuded the same energy as a real-life Ken doll, you’re not alone: Warner Bros. has cast him to portray Mattel’s leading man opposite Margot Robbie in Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming Barbie film, according to Deadline. With Robbie naturally starring as everyone’s favorite plastic blonde, Barbie is reportedly aiming to begin shooting at the start of 2022. Gosling initially passed on the role, but understandably, the studio seemed adamant on nabbing the La La Land heartthrob. André 3000 Joins Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig in Noah Baumbach’s Adaptation of White Noise
Noah Baumbach has been quietly working on a new film adaptation of White Noise, the 1985 novel by Don DeLillo. Although its still coming together behind the scenes, he’s been busy finding the perfect actors to star in the movie, and the latest addition might just be the coolest: André 3000. According to the Cleveland Scene, the legendary Outkast rapper will join a cast that includes big names like Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig. None of their roles in the film have been revealed just yet, but the paper did state that filming is taking place in Cleveland, Ohio under the name Wheat Germ/White Noise. TIME named Nigerian physician Tunji Funsho to the 2020 TIME100, its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. The list, now in its seventeenth year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.
