The next entry in GRiZ‘s long-running mixtape series, Chasing The Golden Hour, showcases the beauty of those golden hours when the sun hits just right and everything glows. Seven years ago, GRiZ picked up his instruments and drove right towards the sun with the release of the first chapter of Chasing The Golden Hour. Now, he’s returned with the second single off the upcoming fourth installment of the series. Like last week’s “Your Light,” “On a High” slows things down to help listeners bask in the warm energy that inspires the record’s title. Sultry vocals layered atop a disco-inspired, synth-laden bassline create a groove that’s best enjoyed on a chilly fall hike in the forest or a lakeside bike ride. A relaxing counterpart to his...
GRiZ has dropped the first single off his forthcoming Chasing The Golden Hour, Pt. 4 tape. The multi-instrumentalist and electronic music superstar today released “Your Light,” which arrives two years after the release of Chasing The Golden Hour, Pt. 3. While this year has seen a number of dubstep and house music records, including recent collabs with LSDREAM (“Funkonaut“), The Sponges’ (“Volume“) and TVBOO (“Bass Music“), this time around, GRiZ displays a more downtempo, melodic sound. Harnessing GRiZ’s funk roots and minimalist sensibilities, “Your Light” flutters with airy guitar riffs, hazy vocal accents and bright synths. Of course, the track wouldn’t be complete without a classic heady saxophone solo by GRiZ himself. “...
GRiZ and LSDREAM have teamed up for a massive collab, taking fans on a funk-filled space expedition with “Funkonaut.” Debuted last December at GRiZ’s inaugural Space Camp event at Virginia’s Hampton Coliseum, “Funkonaut” fuses GRiZ’s signature sound with LSDREAM’s unique brand of space bass. The result is a wonky, thrilling banger that perfectly encapsulates the unique styles of its creators. The new track arrives ahead of both GRiZ’s and LSDREAM’s performances at the former’s curated camping event, “Triple Rainbow,” scheduled for September 16th and 17th at Washington’s Alpine Valley Music Theater. Both are also set to appear at a number of major festivals before throwing down at GRiZ’s second annual Space Camp in mid-December. You ca...
Fans of GRiZ and LSDREAM can finally mark their calendars for the release of “Funkonaut,” the first-ever collab from the bass-funk masterminds. The two debuted their upcoming track in late December 2021, appearing onstage together at GRiZ’s Space Camp event in Virginia. That’s when fans got the first taste of “Funkonaut,” a wobbly record that blends elements of dubstep and trap music with the psychedelic hallmarks of GRiZ’s and LSDREAM’s respective sounds. The moment was brief, but electric: According to GRiZ, “Funkonaut” will hit streaming platforms this Friday, August 26th. Check out his announcement below and pre-save the track here. GRiZ and The Sponges finally released one of their most sought-after IDs. They’ve surprise-released “Volume,” a staple of their live sets which fans had been clamoring for since the moment it was debuted live. With a running start, “Volume” opens up with a steady beat to get you warmed up. A flurry of soulful vocal samples and scratching then gives way to a rhythmic house beat with funky bass and—of course—plenty of saxophone. The final product is sure to make you tap your feet at your desk and lay it all out on the dancefloor when you hear it live. For those wondering why they can’t find “Volume” on major streaming platforms, GRiZ said the track will not be distributed to DSPs like Spotify and Apple Music due to the song’s large amount...

Why aren’t DJs allowed to work at aquariums? Because they always drop the bass. Despite that awful dad joke, read on to discover the lead single from TVBOO‘s debut album, “Bass Music,” a heavy-hitting collaboration with GRiZ. “Bass Music” is a tongue-in-cheek dubstep banger replete with the wonky sound design of TVBOO, who has quickly emerged as one of the genre’s most jocular characters. GRiZ’s heady bass and fluttery arpeggios take over the verse before making way for the song’s drop, which features TVBOO’s signature saws and slithering bass patches. TVBOO said that working with GRiZ, who was named one of EDM.com‘s best music producers of 2021, was “one of the coolest things to happen” in his career. “...
Prepare your space suit because GRiZ and friends are once again getting ready to blast Hampton out of the stratosphere. Returning to the Hampton Coliseum this December is Space Camp II, the second edition of GRiZ’s Virginia-based arena takeover. Last year’s trip to the moon featured a well-curated cast of talent who specialized in trippy, intergalactic bass. Now, he’s extending his otherworldly journey with an all-new lineup for the second launch. Set to appear at Space Camp II are G Jones, ZINGARA, Of The Trees, Sonorous, A Hundred Drums and GRiZ himself, who will perform twice. Perhaps one of the event’s most anticipated sets will come from NGHTMRE, who is currently gearing up for the release of his long-awaited debut album, DRMVRSE, which is s...
GRiZ is launching a new harm reduction program, Harmony Project. The program was created in partnership with industry safety leaders DanceSafe and Good Night Out Vancouver. The mission of the Harmony Project, according to its founders, is to make electronic music events safer on all fronts. They’ve broken it down into three key pillars: care, community and consent. The first pillar asks everyone to check in with their friends and strangers to make sure everyone is taking care of themselves and those around them. This means drinking water, resting, and ensuring the venue is cared for as well. The second pillar encourages attendees to visit the Harmony Project booth and improve their harm reduction skills, including feeling comfortable asking for help. The final ca...
