The Postal Service auditioned “band member” hopefuls, including actress Anne Hathaway, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Guns N’ Roses’ Slash and Duff McKagan, Rick Springfield, Huey Lewis, Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, and many more for a public service announcement for HeadCount’s “Make Your Vote Count” campaign. The Postal Service’s Benjamin Gibbard, Jimmy Tamborello, and Jenny Lewis (with assistance from a faux Sub Pop’s employee named “Dave” who was really comedian Jon Daly) hold Zoom auditions in the long-form PSA from director Tom Scharpling (who directed 2013’s The Postal Service Auditions). It’s been a while since Guns N’ Roses shared a live show from their Not in This Lifetime Selects livestream series. But the band is going to stream two gigs to make up for lost time. The sets come from the Houston and Mexico City dates of their original 2016 leg. The Houston show took place at NRG Stadium on Aug. 5. The Mexico City airing is slightly unclear because the band played multiple shows in the Mexican capital city that year. The sets, though, are similar. The rockers launched their Not in This Lifetime Selects streaming series in May by sharing a 2019 show from Salt Lake City at Vivint Smart Home Arena. They followed with their 2018 slot at the Download Festival in the U.K. Guns N’ Roses played one show this year (coincidentally, in Mexico) befo...
After kiboshing their 2020 tour following a March festival date in Mexico City due to COVID-19, Guns N’ Roses have revealed when they’ll be hitting the road again in 2021. Beginning with a date at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 10, their jaunt will see them play in stadiums across the country — just like they were supposed to do this year. The tour will conclude at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium (which houses LAFC) The band did caution in a release that a few of the dates will be canceled due to routing and venue availability. Of course, this is assuming everything with the pandemic has been sorted by then. Even during the downtime, the band has apparently stayed busy. Slash said in a recent interview that the band has been working on new music in quarantine. They also have strea...
Guns N’ Roses planned to be on the road right now, but like so many other bands their plans were thwarted by the coronavirus pandemic. Now, instead of rehearsing the hits, the band is using its downtime to work on new music. Slash recently gave fans an update on what he’s been up to during quarantine while chatting with music store Sweetwater. “I’ve been pretty much a homebody, but I’ve been back and forth between my studio in the house and doing a lot of writing and recording on my own,” he said. “I’ve been jamming with Duff [McKagan, bassist] and I’ve been jamming with Axl [Rose, frontman] and I’ve been doing stuff like that, so we’ve been getting some work done that way. But I haven’t been doing much else.” The guitarist added that he hasn’t worked on any other projects since ...
After being quiet for a few weeks, Guns N’ Roses will be airing another show in their Not In This Lifetime Selects series. This one comes from a classic show from the Download Festival in 2018. That show, which took place at Donington Park, Castle Donington, England, was a marathon set, featuring 28 songs, including covers of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun,” Jimmy Webb’s “Wichita Lineman,” and Velvet Revolver’s “Slither.” The rockers launched their Not in This Lifetime Selects streaming series last month with a 2019 show from Salt Lake City at Vivint Smart Home Arena serving as the first one. Guns N’ Roses played one show this year before having to postpone their tour plans due to the coronavirus pandemic. The set airs at 6 pm EST/3 pm PST on Guns N’ Roses’ YouTube chann...
Add Guns N’ Roses to the growing list of artists who are streaming past shows while in quarantine. The rockers launched their Not in This Lifetime Selects streaming series on Thursday, with a 2019 show from Salt Lake City at Vivint Smart Home Arena serving as the first one. The 25-song show stuck closely to the setlist that was the foundation of the nearly four-year tour. Guns N’ Roses’ last show before the COVID-19 pandemic was in Mexico. They have since postponed South American tour dates and canceled a summer stadium tour of the U.S. Watch the show here: [embedded content] Check out the setlist below. Add Guns N’ Roses to the evolving list of bands that have postponed shows due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The band announced in a tweet that the tour is being “rescheduled out an abundance of caution.” In March, GNR played a festival in Mexico as the outbreak was getting worse and that proved to be the last show they’ll be playing for quite some time. At that show, they performed the Use Your Illusion rarity “So Fine” for the first time in several decades. Guns N’ Roses previously pushed their South American tour dates, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t stayed busy. Axl Rose has been beefing with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, the band had some thoughts on Trump amid the outbreak and are releasing a children’s book as well. If that’s not enough, we looked back at the band’...
Guns N’ Roses took aim at President Donald Trump’s trip to the Honeywell factory in Arizona last week when the 45th president of the United States walked around the vicinity without a mask on. The band has released a special edition t-shirt with “Live N’ Let Die With COVID 45″ on it, which claps back at Trump’s maskless tour of the same factory that is producing the N95 masks for the federal government. The proceeds from shirt sales will go to the Recording Academy’s MusiCares that’s providing services and resources for musicians in need, especially during the novel coronavirus pandemic. GNR leader Axl Rose hasn’t been shy about voicing out his opinions regarding the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic and even got into a Twitter beef with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin....
Guns N’ Roses may not have any new music arriving imminently, but they are releasing a book…for children. The book, titled Sweet Child O’ Mine after you know what, was written in collaboration with author James Patterson. The book was illustrated by Jennifer Zivion. “As a longtime fan of Guns N’ Roses, I’m thrilled to partner with the band in bringing their famed hit song to life on the page,” Patterson said, according to People.”Sweet Child O’Mine is a story that I know kids will love reading and that parents will love singing along to.” The two main characters of the book are cousins based on the children of GNR manager Fernando Lebeis and his sister. Here’s the book’s description, per Amazon: Follow a child’s wondrous discovery that music is everywhere around us...
