Veteran Goth Rockers The 69 Eyes Return with New Song “Drive”: Stream

The 69 Eyes have shared a music video for a new song titled “Drive.” It comes ahead of the veteran Finnish goth rockers’ 13th studio album, which is currently being recorded for a 2023 release. The track is an ’80s nostalgia trip with serious Billy Idol vibes. The driving riffs and husky, dominant vocals harken back to “White Wedding.” According to guitarist Bazie, the aforementioned decade was an inherent influence on the song. “The inspiration came from the same pool of music I have always liked, mostly from the ’80s,” Bazie said [via the band’s Facebook page]. “I never plan anything; just grab my guitar and see what comes up. We jammed a lot more as a band this time and came up with song ideas from all the guys. ‘Drive’ started from one little riff, which I had for a long time. It took ...

What’s more, they’ve already dropped their self-titled debut album, available on streaming services as of today (April 11th). The outfit is rounded out by guitarist Bubba Dupree (of the ’80s hardcore band Void) and singers Jillian Raye (of Novoselic’s group Giants in the Trees) and Jennifer Johnson. According to the credits listed on the band’s official website, Novoselic and Cameron are among the primary songwriters of the 11-track album. Jack Endino, who famously worked on Nirvana’s Bleach, co-produced and mixed the LP. Both the band and the album come as a surprise, although Novoselic did mention in a since-d...

Rammstein Undergo Radical Plastic Surgery in Video for New Single “Zick Zack”: Watch

Rammstein have unveiled another new single ahead of their forthcoming album, Zeit. The latest song is called “Zick Zack” and it was preceded by a clever marketing campaign. On April 1st, Rammstein announced that they had invested in the “Zick Zack Beauty Clinic” in Berlin, which many fans thought to be an April Fools joke. While there’s no proof of the existence of the beauty clinic, fans around the world called a “Zick Zack” hotline to speak with a “team of experts.” Now, it’s evident that the campaign was tied to the new single and its accompanying music video, which, according to a press release, “deal with what is nowadays often a compulsive tendency on the part of the individual towards self-optimization, sometimes through radical alteration of the visual appearance by use of the scal...

2022 Welcome to Rockville Festival Taps Nine Inch Nails to Replace Foo Fighters as Sunday Headliner

Following the tragic death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, Foo Fighters canceled all of their scheduled 2022 tour dates. One of those dates was a headlining gig at the upcoming Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. Today (April 6th), organizers announced that Nine Inch Nails will replace Foo Fighters on the Sunday (May 22nd) lineup of the four-day fest. It’s the second such announcement of the day, as Boston Calling revealed this morning that NIN would be filling in for Foo Fighters on the first night (May 27th) of its three-day lineup. The addition of Nine Inch Nails creates a triumvirate of early ’90s alt-rock legends at the top of Welcome to Rockville’s Sunday bill, with The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction playing right before NIN. Bon Jovi Kick Off Spring 2022 Tour in Omaha: Photos, Recap + Setlist

Arena rock is a genre of music that will never die, as long as crowds convene inside hockey arenas around the country to sing along to our favorite anthems from our favorite artists. That’s exactly what took place when Bon Jovi kicked off their 2022 tour in Omaha, NE at the CHI Health Center on Friday, April 1st, for their first public in-person concert since the pandemic started. Ione, a singer from Sioux City, IA, was the contest winner of the opening slot for the Omaha tour date. With a full backing band — two guitar players, a bassist, a drummer, and a keyboardist — Ione filled the arena with her soulful voice, reminding one of ‘70s singer-songwriters like Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks. She emitted a free-spirited energy on stage, and captivated the audience with her pure, unadultera...

Willow Smith Unleashes Heavy New Single “Purge” Featuring Siiickbrain: Stream

Willow Smith has released a heavy new single titled “Purge,” featuring Siiickbrain, along with an accompanying music video. The daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith released her fourth album, Lately I Feel Everything, in July, but is already putting out new songs that weren’t included on the LP. The singer, who just goes by the artist name WILLOW, appeared on Machine Gun Kelly’s single “emo girl” in February. Now, she’s unleashed “Purge,” which builds up to an intense chorus that finds both WILLOW and Siiickbrain singing at the top of their lungs, with the latter even delivering some powerful metalcore screams. The eye-catching video matches the intensity of the song, with WILLOW and Siiickbrain both wearing striking outfits as they bash a car with baseball bats and engage in othe...

Yikes! Machine Gun Kelly Unwisely Covers System of a Down’s “Aerials”: Watch

Either Machine Gun Kelly is trying desperately to alienate himself from metalheads, or is just trolling all of us. First, he insulted Slipknot, and now he’s butchered a cover of System of a Down’s “Aerials.” The rapper turned pop-punk singer was a guest on The Howard Stern Show this week. For some odd reason, MGK thought it would be a good idea for him and his band to perform the System of a Down track as part of his visit. It’s no easy task for any singer to match Serj Tankian’s soaring operatic vocals, let alone one who’s range is limited like MGK. While his backing band did an admirable job on the instrumentation of the Toxicity song, MGK’s singing was rough right from the first note, and sounded like one continuous vocal strain throughout the entire performance. Seriously, if you can v...

Contestant on The Voice France Performs Obnoxious Rendition of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are”: Watch

A contestant on a recent episode of France’s edition of The Voice performed an obnoxious rendition of the Nirvana classic “Come As You Are” for his blind audition, but somehow got two of the judges to turn their chairs around. First off, unless there’s something lost in translation, we’re pretty sure that Stephen Di Tordo starts the performance by saying “Let’s f**k” into the microphone — leaving a confused look on the judges’ faces. From there, the opening verse sounds a little rough as Di Tordo delivers Kurt Cobain’s lyrics in a low tone. However, when he kicks into his upper register around 45 seconds into the performance, it impresses two of the judges, who promptly hit their buttons to turn their chairs around.
