Late Metallica Bassist Cliff Burton Immortalized with New Collectible Statue
Late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton is being immortalized with a new KnuckleBonz Iconz collectible statue. The finely detailed statues are limited to 3,000 pieces and retail for $164. They’re currently in production with an anticipated ship date of early 2023. A portion of the proceeds will support the Cliff Burton Music Scholarship Fund. The KnuckleBonz statues are hand-crafted by artists using “a fine-arts process where each figure is hand-cast, painted, and numbered.” The 1/9 scale figures stand 8.5 to 9 inches tall and come with a certificate of authenticity on the base. Metallica were joined backstage by a special guest ahead of their headlining performance at Lollapalooza on Thursday. Joseph Quinn, who played Eddie Munson on season four of Stranger Things, paid a pre-show visit to the band and even got a chance to join them for a performance of “Master of Puppets.” During a backstage powwow, Metallica’s James Hetfield revealed that he has watched Stranger Things since season one. “[For] my kids and I, it’s been a bonding experience for us,” the band’s frontman explained. Stabbing Westward singer Christopher Hall revealed Wednesday (July 27th) that he is battling throat cancer. As a result, the band has canceled a series of tour dates planned for August and September. We’ve had to put those shows on hold while I deal with a serious health issue. Hanoi Rocks guitarist Andy McCoy says he’s never received an apology from Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil, whose infamous 1984 car crash resulted in the death of the band’s drummer, Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley. Neil was driving his car when he and Dingley went on a liquor run in Redondo Beach, California, in December 1984. On the way back, the Mötley Crüe vocalist crashed into another vehicle, killing Dingley and leaving both occupants of the other car with brain damage. Neil, who had a .17 blood-alcohol level, ended up spending 15 days in jail for the incident and was ordered to pay $2.6 million to the victims of the crash.
