Rob Zombie’s Walking Tour of Munsters Set Shows Off Authenticity of His Big-Screen Adaptation

Rob Zombie has been a stickler for detail while filming his big-screen adaption of the 1960s sitcom The Munsters, and it’s apparent how authentic the set is in a new walking tour conducted by the rocker-director himself. As previously reported, Zombie had the Munsters’ famous 1313 Mockingbird Lane mansion faithfully recreated on the film’s set in Budapest, Hungary, along with the surrounding homes in the movie’s suburban neighborhood. In a new video posted to his Instagram (see below), Zombie walks through the “neighborhood” on his way to 1313 Mockingbird Lane, with no one else on the set. Using either a Super 8 camera or a filter to give it a vintage look, the video looks like it’s straight out of the ’60s, and the set truly captures the vibe of the original TV show. Nova Twins Unveil New Song “Puzzles” Ahead of Upcoming Album Supernova: Stream

Rising heavy pop duo Nova Twins have shared the new song “Puzzles” ahead of their upcoming sophomore album, Supernova, out June 17th. We’ve been following the steady ascent of Nova Twins here at Consequence, previously premiering the track “Cleopatra.” The duo of singer-guitarist Amy Love and bassist-singer Georgia South fuse pop, hip-hop, and heavy music with unprecedented infectiousness, “Puzzles” being the latest example. The overtly sexual song kicks off with sinister beats and acidic, crushed-out R&B vocals from Love. The chorus drop — complete with chugging metal riffs — is absolutely massive and fit for both the moshpit and dance floor alike. R.I.P. Trevor Strnad, The Black Dahlia Murder Frontman Dead at 41

Trevor Strnad, frontman for The Black Dahlia Murder, has died at age 41. While a cause of death was not given, the band shared the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in announcing his passing on its social sites. Strnad founded the melodic death metal group in 2001 in Michigan, and remained its frontman until his passing. Over the course of 20 years, the band gained a large following and earned acclaim in metal circles with nine studio albums. Their most recent full-length release was 2020’s Verminous. On Instagram, the band announced Strnad’s passing with the following statement: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad. Beloved son, brother, and Shepard of good times, he was loved by all that met him. A walking encyclopedia of all thin...

The Darkness’ Justin Hawkins on Jon Bon Jovi’s Recent Vocal Issues: “It’s Not Fun to Watch This”

The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has weighed in on Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal issues, which were apparent on the veteran rocker’s recent US tour with his legendary band Bon Jovi. Jon Bon Jovi’s performances were notably shaky and off-key — a criticism that was consistent across numerous concert reviews. To Hawkins’ ear, Bon Jovi sounded “tired” rather than hindered by a vocal cord problem such as a polyp. Hawkins suggested that it’s psychological, and called for the band’s camp to step in. “It sounds like he needs some kind of therapy,” Hawkins said on his YouTube series “Justin Hawkins Rides Again” [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]. “It doesn’t sound like it’s a polyp or some sort of lump on his vocal cords ’cause that would be more unpredictable — he would be hitting the notes and then it w...

Cave In Announce US Tour with Author & Punisher, Unleash New Song “Reckoning”: Stream

Cave In have announced a Summer 2022 US tour with Author & Punisher, and have shared the video for their new song “Reckoning.” It’s the fourth track we’ve heard from the Cave In’s forthcoming album, Heavy Pendulum (out May 20th), and marks the Boston band’s first song written entirely by guitarist Adam McGrath. Structured around skeletal acoustic strums, splashes of guitar, and an infectious rhythmic stomp, the track has a ’90s grunge vibe and churns with positive energy. “‘Reckoning’ started as a demo I sent to the band for consideration while mapping out the track list for Heavy Pendulum,” McGrath said. “It was inspired by the idea of adding a song to the acoustic/electric live sets Steve and I had been performing on and off for the last 20 years. A fresh song with that set-up (acous...

Rob Halford on Judas Priest’s Rock Hall Induction: “That’s the Blessing We’ve All Been Waiting For”

Judas Priest are set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2022. The legendary British metal band is receiving the Musical Excellence Award — the same award that saw the posthumous induction of Randy Rhoads last year. Although Judas Priest weren’t voted in by the Hall’s proper voting body, frontman Rob Halford called the induction a “blessing.” “It’s a very, very important institution for recognizing various people that have been in music since music began, right from the beginning of rock ‘n’ roll,” Halford told Billboard. “To be part of that is, like, wow. And glory hallelujah, there’s another metal band in now. That’s the blessing we’ve all been waiting for.” Advertisement Related Video Judas Priest were a constant on the Hall’s fan ballot for years ...

Tyler Bates and Chelsea Wolfe on Creating the Dark, Funky X Soundtrack

The horror film fandom has been on the edge of its seat for X, director Ti West’s first full-length feature since his 2016 Western In a Valley of Violence. The A24 film is more than a love letter to the greatest horror films of all time — it paves a creative, innovative, and shocking path all of its own. The same can be said of its score, which was created in a collaboration between legendary horror composer Tyler Bates and goth rock queen Chelsea Wolfe, alongside composer/producer Ben Chisholm. X’s accompanying lush score is perfect for the envelope-pushing, star-studded film. Set in 1979, X tells the story of a group of aspiring filmmakers and stars (including Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, and Kid Cudi) who head deep into rural Texas to create the ultimate porn film. Things take...

Geezer Butler on Working with Rick Rubin on Black Sabbath’s 13: “I Still Don’t Know What He Did”

Geezer Butler is still confounded about Rick Rubin‘s production work on Black Sabbath‘s 2013 album 13. In a new interview with Eddie Trunk, the Black Sabbath bassist offered up a less-than-thrilled recollection of working with the acclaimed producer on what remains the band’s final album. “Some of it I liked, some of it I didn’t like particularly,” Butler said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “It was a weird experience, especially with being told to forget that you’re a heavy metal band. That was the first thing [Rick] said to us. He played us our very first album, and he said, ‘Cast your mind back to then when there was no such thing as heavy metal or anything like that, and pretend it’s the follow-up album to that,’ which is a ridiculous thing to think.” Advertisement Related Video The ...
