Tool Set Retail Release for Ultra Deluxe Fear Inoculum Vinyl (At Much Lower Price Than Signed Version)

Tool raised some eyebrows when they recently began selling limited autographed copies of a new “Ultra Deluxe” vinyl edition of their 2019 album Fear Inoculum at their concerts for $810 ($750 plus service fees and taxes). Now, the band has set a retail price for the unsigned set at the much lower cost of $169.98, with a release date of April 8th. Several days ago, a Reddit thread went viral when someone posted a photo of the deluxe 5-LP collection at a Tool merch booth with the sticker price of $810. Even considering the base price of $750, the newly announced unsigned retail version arrives at a cost that’s $580 lower. That comes out to be around $145 for each band member’s autograph. For diehard Tool fans, perhaps that’s a reasonable price to pay to get all four signatures on the same ite...

Code Orange Share Full “Back Inside the Glass” Concert for Free: Watch

Code Orange have shared the full performance from their “Back Inside the Glass” Halloween 2020 livestream concert for free. “Back Inside the Glass” was Code Orange’s third livestream of the pandemic. The band was forced to perform virtual shows after releasing its 2020 album Underneath right as the live music industry shut down. This particular livestream was notable for its VR environments. Digitally augmenting reality has been a recurring concept for Code Orange, and it was no better exemplified than with “Back Inside the Glass.” Advertisement Related Video The release of the full performance for fans who may have missed it the first time comes a week before Code Orange kick off their 2022 touring itinerary. The band will be supporting Korn starting March 4th in Springfield, Missouri, be...

Spirit Adrift Share Cover of Pantera’s “Hollow”: Stream

Spirit Adrift have covered Pantera‘s “Hollow” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the latter’s iconic Vulgar Display of Power album. The cover sees the Austin-based Spirit Adrift faithfully paying homage to their Texas metal forebearers. As one of Pantera’s more mid-tempo, melodic songs, “Hollow” works well within Spirit Adrift’s traditional heavy metal framework. It’s no surprise that the song and Vulgar Display of Power were a major influence on singer-guitarist Nate Garrett. “Vulgar Display of Power was a massive influence on my understanding of powerful songwriting, memorable arrangements, riffing, drumming, singing, and heavy metal in general”, Garrett said in a press release. “I studied the entire album from an early age, and the standout track to me has always been ‘Hollow.’ I...

While it is uncertain how the current unrest in the Ukraine will affect their tour plans, the band is focused on the bigger picture right now. In a new Facebook post, Jinjer reported that they are currently safe while also imploring for the war to come to a swift end. Their message reads as follows: “Dear all, as we write this text, for the moment, each ...

Musicians Remember Mark Lanegan: “One of THE Great Singers of the Last 30 Years”

Following the sad news that Mark Lanegan died at age 57 earlier today (February 22nd), the talented frontman of Screaming Trees and erstwhile member of Queens of the Stone Age is being remembered by his musical peers. Lanegan’s prolific music career — which also saw him release 12 solo albums and collaborate with a number of other musicians — had a profound influence and impact on many artists. Former New Order bassist Peter Hook tweeted, “Mark Lanegan was a lovely man. He led a wild life that some of us could only dream of. He leaves us with fantastic words and music! Thank god that through all of that he will live forever. RIP Mark. Sleep well.” Advertisement Related Video Velvet Underground legend John Cale wrote, “I can’t process this. Tool’s New Ultra Deluxe Signed Fear Inoculum Box Set Priced at $810

Tool have unveiled an Ultra Deluxe vinyl box set of their 2019 album Fear Inoculum, and are currently selling autographed copies exclusively at their concerts for the seemingly steep price of $810. A post on the vinyl subreddit page went viral after a concertgoer snapped a picture of the price tag as displayed at Tool’s merch table, with the lofty amount generating backlash among several commenters. The irony is that Tool’s price might actually be below market value. The signed editions are already fetching around $2,000 on eBay. Not a bad investment, especially considering that it’s a tangible object in a collector’s market where flipping intangible NFTs has become the new trend. Grace McKagan Unveils New Song “Baby That’s Rock N Roll”: Stream

Grace McKagan, the daughter of Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, has unveiled the music video for her new song “Baby That’s Rock N Roll.” Grace goes for a garage-rock sound this time around, combining a driving beat with fuzzed-out guitars. Director Connor Ellmann’s Super 8-style video adds to the vintage aesthetics, as Grace rides through the Hollywood hills on the back of a motorcycle. “The single speaks to the current mainstream attitude towards rock music, and how distorted it is from the original depth and authenticity from which it was derived,” Grace McKagan said in a press statement. “I’m not the guru on what rock is or isn’t, but the personification of the genre has evolved a lot, especially in these past couple of years. Studs, dirty sex, a guitar riff on a pop song, and wearin...

Robert Fripp and Toyah Tackle Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”: Watch

King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp and his singer wife Toyah Willcox are still giving fans plenty of ear (and eye) candy on Sundays, this time gracing us with a rendition of the Smashing Pumpkins classic “Bullet With Butterfly Wings.” It’s been a while since we’ve reported on the frisky couple’s “Sunday Lunch” series, but they’ve been going strong in 2022, mostly delivering covers of punk classics from The Clash, Ramones, and others over the past several weeks. For this weekend’s edition, the pair tackle the Pumpkins’ smash alt-rock hit with their usual musical and visual flair. Toyah’s risqué see-through top is par for the course for her Sunday performances, but in this case it’s not too far off what original Pumpkins bassist D’arcy Wretzky wore during the band’s 1998 tour in support of ...
