Exodus Announce New Album, Unveil Single “The Beatings Will Continue (Until Morale Improves)”: Stream

Exodus have announced their 11th studio album, Persona Non Grata, arriving November 19th. They also shared the video for the lead single “The Beatings Will Continue (Until Morale Improves).” True to its title, the single packs a wallop. Blazing fast riffs, snarled vocals, and gang-shout choruses make for a potent thrash metal attack. This is classic stuff from the pioneering Bay Area band. “After what seems like an eon, we now have the debut of our first single, ‘The Beatings Will Continue (Until Morale Improves),’” remarked guitarist Gary Holt via a press statement. “I’m so jacked up for this and the release of Persona Non Grata! Let’s get the bloodletting started!” Advertisement Related Video Persona Non Grata translates to “an unwelcome person,” and the album “touches on themes of moder...

Ministry Unleash Cover of The Stooges’ “Search and Destroy”: Stream

Ministry have unveiled a cover of The Stooges‘ “Search and Destroy” as the latest single from their upcoming album, Moral Hygiene. Frontman Al Jourgensen and company put an industrial stamp on the proto-punk classic. The track features a guest spot by Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison, and the decision to cover the tune was inspired by a performance at a benefit show in 2019. “We rehearsed it and the song was perfect but the show was running late and by the time we got onstage, I was in half time and singing the lyrics twice as slow,” explained Jourgensen in a press release. “Fortunately Billy and Dave Navarro are professionals and they realized what was going on and sort of covered for me but I felt horrible. Billy thought it actually sounded really good in half-time so he came to me wi...

Corey Taylor Contracts COVID-19: “I Woke Up Today and Tested Positive, and I’m Very, Very Sick”

On the heels of his latest solo tour, Corey Taylor has tested positive for COVID-19. The Slipknot singer is vaccinated, but revealed that he still felt “very, very sick.” Taylor made the announcement in order to let everyone know he would no longer be attending the Astronomicon pop-culture convention this weekend in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In a video message posted on the Astronomicon Facebook page, a raspy and congested Taylor spoke from his bed, stating the following: “I wish I had better news. I woke up today and tested positive, and I’m very, very sick. So I’m not gonna be able to make it this weekend. And I am absolutely devastated. I am so sorry. I hope everyone has a good time, and I promise you I will absolutely try to get back there as soon as I can. I should be okay — it [feels like...

David Lee Roth Responds to Gene Simmons’ Insults with 18 Middle Fingers

David Lee Roth has responded to recent insults by KISS‘ Gene Simmons by posting the same image 18 times on Instagram. Simmons recently lamented DLR’s current performance abilities in a new interview with Rolling Stone. While confirming that Roth was no longer providing support on KISS’ farewell tour, the KISS singer-bassist initially praised the Van Halen frontman, but then made disparaging remarks about the singer. “It bears noting that during Dave’s heyday, nobody did what he did,” began Simmons. “He was the ultimate frontman. Not Plant, not Rod Stewart, nobody. He took being a frontman way beyond anything.” He continued, “And then, I don’t know what happened to him… something. And you get modern-day Dave. I prefer to remember Elvis Presley in his prime. Sneering lips, back in Memphis, y...

Iron Maiden Unleash New Song “Stratego”: Stream

Iron Maiden have shared the new song “Stratego,” the second single from the forthcoming album Senjutsu, out September 3rd. “Stratego” is another epic slice of heavy metal from the masters of the craft. Bruce Dickinson’s voice soars above churning riffs and well-placed synths, with the band employing some different tones than the Southern-rock inflected lead single, “The Writing on the Wall”. It’s one of two songs on Senjutsu written by guitarist Janick Gers and founding bassist Steve Harris. It was recorded back in 2019 at Guillaume Tell studios in Paris and was produced by Kevin ‘Caveman’ Shirley & co-produced by Steve Harris, likely during the sessions mentioned by Shirley in late 2019. Rush Announce Canadian Golden Ale Beer, Share Fun Promo Clip with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson: Watch

Rush are getting into the beer business. The legendary prog-rock band has announced Rush Canadian Golden Ale, in collaboration with Toronto’s Henderson Brewery. The genesis of the beer started when Geddy Lee was handed an Iron Maiden Trooper Ale after a Rush concert during their R40 tour. The singer-bassist jokingly wondered aloud why Rush didn’t have their own beer. From there, the wheels were set in motion, leading to the partnership with Henderson Brewery. Guitarist Alex Lifeson, who has been dubbed the band’s “Beer Scientist,” stated, “Rush Canadian Golden Ale is golden in color with a dense ivory head. It has an earthy aroma with hints of orange-peel, pine and spicy rye. While the emphasis is on refreshment, there are elements of pine, rye spice and a citric hop flavor that add to the...

Corey Taylor and His Band Wear KISS Makeup, Perform Slipknot and Nine Inch Nails Songs: Watch

Fans in Springfield, Missouri, were treated to an extra special set by Corey Taylor and his solo band on Monday night (August 16th). The Slipknot frontman and company wore KISS makeup for the occasion, and beefed up their setlist with songs by Nine Inch Nails and Cheap Trick, not to mention a rare performance of Slipknot’s “Wait and Bleed.” Taylor is in the midst of the second leg of his solo tour in support of his 2020 album, CMFT. His wife Alicia Dove’s dance troupe The Cherry Bombs have been supporting the run, but were not able to open the Springfield show. In turn, Corey and his bandmates rocked the KISS makeup — with the singer taking on the Starchild (Paul Stanley) persona — and extended their normal set. As they had been doing on this leg of the tour, the band played the Slipknot c...

Nikki Sixx Is “So Happy” That Mötley Crüe “Decided to Not Tour During this Pandemic”

While many bands have pushed ahead with their scheduled 2021 tours (lots of which had already been rescheduled from 2020), Nikki Sixx is “so happy” that Mötley Crüe postponed their reunion tour once again. Now that COVID-19 cases are rising due to the Delta variant, the bassist said he’s “100%” satisfied with the band’s decision to wait another year. Other big rock bands like Guns N’ Roses and Foo Fighters have kicked off summer tours, but acts like Mötley Crüe, Rage Against the Machine, and Deftones have delayed their outings until 2022. Sixx is glad to be in the latter group of bands, taking to Instagram to share a graphic that reads: “I’m so happy we decided to not tour during this pandemic… 100%.” He added, “Not a hard decision to make when so many people’s lives are at risk. I MISS IT...
