Greta Van Fleet Singer Josh Kiszka Ruptures Eardrum During Concert
Greta Van Fleet singer Josh Kiszka ruptured his eardrum during a concert in Bangor, Maine, on October 8th, forcing the band to postpone three upcoming shows. The band made the announcement on Monday (October 17th), letting fans know that shows scheduled for Raleigh, North Carolina (October 18th); Greenville, South Carolina (October 19th); and Jacksonville, Florida (October 21st) would be rescheduled for later dates. As it was, Greta Van Fleet had a nine-day break built into their schedule after the Bangor show, which likely prevented them from postponing more concerts. Filter are back with their first new music in more than two years. The industrial rockers have released the new song “For the Beaten” after inking a new deal with Golden Robot Records. The track features Filter founder Richard Patrick’s soaring tenor screams over chugging guitars. “For the Beaten” will appear on Filter’s as-yet-untitled upcoming album, which is expected to arrive in 2023. The LP will consist of material that Filter have been working on throughout the pandemic. In addition to Patrick, “For the Beaten” features Johnny Radtke on guitar, Elias Mallin on drums and the song’s co-writer, and Filter newcomer, Zack Munowitz, also on guitar. Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson physically ejected an invasive fan from the stage during a recent show in Anaheim, California. While the incident happened on September 22nd, footage of the onstage incident is now making the rounds. The encounter took place during the final song of the evening (“Aces High”). Wearing a backwards cap, the fan rushed the stage and flashed the devil horns at guitarist Janick Gers and a visibly perturbed Dickinson, who attempted to escort the intruder backstage by the hand. Highway to Spell: AC/DC Inspire New Children’s Alphabet Book
Rock heroes AC/DC have inspired a new children’s alphabet book, The AC/DC AB/CD High-Voltage Alphabet, due for release on November 11th in the band’s native country of Australia. The book was designed and produced by Paul McNeil and is targeted at pre-schoolers who are learning their ABCs. Each letter features a reference to the band, and the viewable page samples on the publisher’s website are downright adorable. “A is for Angus [Young], who thinks it’s good luck, to wear a school uniform, and walk like a duck,” reads the page for the initial letter of the alphabet. The facing page features a cartoon caricature of the iconic guitarist. Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp has announced a Spring 2023 edition dubbed “Whole Lotta Rock,” featuring mentoring from Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, Stone Temple Pilots brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo, Vanilla Fudge drummer Carmine Appice, and more. The four-day session takes place March 16th-19th in Los Angeles. The worlds of heavy metal and arena rock collided in Hawaii when Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett joined Journey for a mashup performance of “Wheel in the Sky” and “Enter Sandman.” Hammett, who has a home in Hawaii, jumped onstage with Journey at their October 6th show in Honolulu. The Metallica axeman played alongside Journey guitarist Neal Schon on “Wheel in the Sky,” transitioning into the famous “Enter Sandman” riff a few minutes into the song, much to the fans’ delight.
