Perhaps all this talk of manifestation is real — if you’re Big Boi of OutKast, at least. For roughly a decade, the rapper has been talking about a dream collaboration with English singer-songwriter Kate Bush, and he recently revealed they’ve recorded a song together that’s ready to be released. Big Boi spoke about the collaboration during an interview with Mark Ronson on The FADER Uncovered podcast. “I have a monster hit with Kate Bush that I’m just holding,” he said. “It’s a dream come true and the people are going to fucking love it. It’s fucking incredible.” During the sitdown, Big Boi recalled meeting Bush backstage in London while OutKast was in town for their 2014 reunion tour and Bush was in the midst of her Before the Dawn residency. “I got tickets, me and my wife, and we went...
Your Old Droog has announced a new album, Space Bar. It’s out November 29th, and as a preview YOD has uncorked the song “Meteor Man” featuring Lil Ugly Mane and billy woods. Space Bar will be Droog’s fourth (!) album of 2021, following TIME and his two collaborations with Tha God Fahim, Tha Wolf on Wall St and Tha YOD Fahim. As for “Meteor Man,” the song boasts a beat by Sadhu Gold. It opens with two thumps of a drum and an incessant whine that turns into a wall of sound, as the three MCs unspool an all-bars, no hook slugfest. Droog establishes the tone with his conversational flow, setting himself up, “Like Mace Windu priming for the great swindle/ Don’t act surprised when you see me poly with Kylie and Kendall.” Lil Ugly Mane raps, “If cops throw they l...

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner confirmed Blount’s tragic death in a post he shared Sunday (Nov. 14), tweeting, “I am saddened to learn of Ezra’s death this evening. Our city tonight prays for his mom, dad, grandparents, other family members and classmates at this time. They will need all of our support in the months and years to come. May God give them strength. RIP Ezra.” The late child’s grandfather, Bernon Blount, told The Associated Press of the incident, “They were expecting to come and have a good time with each other, bond as father and son, and it turned into a tragic event because of the negligence of others.” Following the fatalities, a slew of lawsuits have been filed against Scott, fellow rapper Drake (who performed d...
The second edition of Goldenvoice’s hotly-anticipated Day N Vegas Festival brought a range of performances from hip-hop and R&B acts to the Las Vegas Festival Grounds for three nights over the November 12th-14th weekend. On the heels of the November 5th crowd surge and mass-casualty event at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, the hours leading into Day N Vegas took a cautionary tone. Earlier in the week, Scott pulled out of his night two headlining slot at DNV and was replaced by Post Malone; news outlets clamored to inform the public of the festival’s safety plan and organizers made additional checks and balances on crowd control. While the emphasis on fan safety struck a hyper-vigilant chord, the event was incident free and high on big moments, wrapping up a short but sweet ’21 fest...
Lil Nas touched on other rappers throughout the interview and revealed how he felt about losing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 to Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. “I did feel like that [I had to work harder]. Then I got out of it, and all I thought about was how blessed I am. About where I was three years ago. Nobody even thought that I would be here. Everybody was like, ‘One-hit-wonder this, one-hit-wonder that.’ And now it’s amazing that my competition was Drake,” the 22-year-old reflected. “Drake, with this huge album and the most first-week sales of the year. Plus, Drake’s my idol. There are too many other wins to be upset.” During a personal moment in the interview, the rapper also spoke about how tough it was for him to talk about his family...

A tenth person has died from injuries suffered at last weekend’s Astroworld Festival. Nine-year-old Ezra Blount passed away Sunday, according to a statement released by his family’s attorney. “The Blount family tonight is grieving the incomprehensible loss of their precious young son,” the Blount family attorney Ben Crump said in a statement. “This should not have been the outcome of taking their son to a concert, what should have been a joyful celebration. Ezra’s death is absolutely heartbreaking. We are committed to seeking answers and justice for the Blount family. But tonight we stand in solidarity with the family, in grief, and in prayer.” Blount was sitting on his father’s shoulders during Travis Scott’s headlining set on Friday night when the two suddenly found themselves trapped in...

From there, the four-piece advertises the store’s wide selection of bone options — from “big bones” to “itty bitty bitty bones” — over a medley of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s popular hits. Taking it a ridiculous step further, the store features dinosaur bones, vegan bones, funny bones and even trombones. As if that weren’t enough, each purchase comes with a free serenade from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony — even if the customer doesn’t want it. “The bone I purchased was alarmingly cheap, but it was perfect for my dog,” one customer says in a filmed testimonial. “The song was a little strange.” The SNL skit coincidentally arrives as the real Bone Thugs-N-Harmony prepares to face off against Three 6 Mafia in the next...

Canadian rapper Haviah Mighty has released a new mixtape. Stock Exchange, the follow-up to her 2019 album 13th Floor, is out now via Mighty Gang Inc. Now, she goes bigger with a record featuring a revolving door of international guests, from UK grime artist Yizzy to Spanish rapper Mala Rodríguez. In a press release, she explained that Stock Exchange offers a commentary on said modern success — the ways in which streaming numbers and follower counts dictate our definitions of good and bad art. “These statistics that we use to compare ourselves to others and to define our successes, have become proof of our worth.
