Rolling Loud New York Day 3 Recap: Travis Scott, Griselda and More

Rolling Loud New York 2021 came to a close on Saturday (October 30th) after a first day dominated by hometown rappers was followed by J. Cole’s unforgettable performance in a torrential downpour. Inclimate weather was once again in the forecast, but this time around, festivalgoers came more prepared for the elements, bringing along ponchos or rain jackets. In comparison to the night before, Travis Scott dealt with lighter rain, which was probably a good thing considering how hard he and his fans raged throughout his performance. Meanwhile, Griselda played their more traditional brand of hip-hop, and Roddy Ricch continued to develop as a star performer. A$AP Ferg took his audience’s energy levels to their max and City Morgue joined their fans in the pit. Young Nudy played one of the more la...

Dressed in all silver, the rapper, fronting a full band, threw down with a musical set that included surprise appearances by Eminem trading verses on “Rock the Bells” and Jennifer Lopez re-creating their collaboration on “All I Have.” LL Cool J also delivered a powerhouse “Go Cut Creator Go” and closed with “Mama Said Knock You Out,” joined by a cadre of white-hoodied dancers who paraded down the aisle before joining him onstage. Addressing his long journey into the Rock Hall, LL Cool J — who received one of the night’s Awards for Musical Excellence — thanked “all of the people who voted for ...

I just do it.’ I looked at Jay and said, ‘My God, man — you just did it again!’” Chappelle’s remarks were preceded by a taped tribute from former President Barack Obama and by a montage of all-stars — including Beyonce and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Diddy, Common, Queen Latifah and others — quoting lyrics from Jay-Z songs. In a lengthy acceptance ...

JAY-Z joined the likes of The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, N.W.A., and Public Enemy by becoming the latest hip-hop icon to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not surprisingly, HOV received a star-studded introduction led by former president Barack Obama. “I’ve turned to Jay-Z’s words at different points in my life, whether I was brushing dirt off my shoulder on the campaign trail, or sampling his lyrics on the Edmund Pettus Bridge on the 50th anniversary of the Selma march to Montgomery,” said President Obama. “Today, Jay-Z is one of the most renowned artists in history and an embodiment of the American dream, a dream he has helped make real for other young people like him.” Following Obama’s remarks, a who’s who of A-list stars — including JAY-Z’s wife Beyoncé, Rihanna, Chris Ro...

Later in the evening, Lizzo continued wearing her creative costume for a performance at Spotify’s Ghost Town Halloween Party in West Hollywood. In another Instagram post, the “Good as Hell” singer joked that Grogu’s PR team issued a statement about her playful costume. “A representative from Grogu’s publicity team has issued a statement regarding the paparazzi photos taken last night: ‘Grogu aka Baby Yoda aka The Child has no recollection of these events. J. Cole & Playboi Carti Battle It Out For Rolling Loud NYC Day 2 Supremacy

Playboi Carti took the Audiomack stage around 9:15 p.m., and there was no chance the Atlanta rap superstar would let Cole show him up at a festival known for raging and mosh pits. By the time Carti pulled up in an all-black outfit to the sounds of “Stop Breathing,” the rain had begun to pour heavily, setting up the scene for one of the most wildest sets at Rolling Loud. Fans were taking off and throwing their clothes, jewelry and whatever else was on their body as King Vamp instructed them to go wild while he segued into “Rockstar Made,” “Teen X” and “JumpOutTheHouse.” Once Carti dove into his feature on Ye’s “Off the Grid,” the ground began to shake, causing festival-goers to let off all their pent-up energy. Rolling Loud New York Day 2 Recap: Rainy Weather Couldn’t Stop J. Cole, City Girls Showed Out and More

If the Day 1 theme of Rolling Loud New York 2021 was hometown rappers reigning supreme, the driving force on Friday (October 29th) was Mother Nature. Beginning as a crisp, overcast autumn day with winds strong enough to tip over garbage cans, it started drizzling around 7:30 p.m. before giving way to a full-blown rainstorm shortly after J. Cole took the main stage at 8:45. The Dreamville founder was unfazed by the weather, giving an all-time performance that those in attendance will never forget.
