The Soul Train Awards, which recognizes the best in soul and R&B, will be taped at the legendary Apollo theater in Harlem on Nov. 20. It will premiere on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and BET Her. As previously announced, Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold will co-host the show for the fourth consecutive year. The show will be special on two counts. This will mark the first time the show has been taped at the Apollo (or in New York, for that matter). It will also honor the 50th anniversary of Soul Train, which made its debut in October 1971. Maxwell will receive the Legend award, which has gone in recent years to Babyface (2015), Teddy Riley (2016), Toni Braxton (2017), Erykah Badu (2018) and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (2019). “It’s an honor to be presented with the Legend awa...

Your Old Droog Unveils New Song “Yuri”: Stream

Your Old Droog has already dropped three albums in 2021, and he may be gearing up for a fourth with the release of the new song “Yuri.” While no LP has been announced, the description on the YouTube video notes that “Yuri” is the “First ‘Official’ Single from New YOD Album.” As an opening statement, it marks a sonic departure from his previous 2021 releases, TIME and his two collaborations with Tha God Fahim, Tha Wolf on Wall St and Tha YOD Fahim.  “Yuri” is named after cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human being in space. The track comes with a beat from Nicholas Craven, and it’s built around a soaring rock guitar that could have been plucked from the original Woodstock. Droog can go bar for bar with any lyricist today, with a conversational flow that disguises his j...

Kanye West Joined By Marilyn Manson and Justin Bieber at Sunday Service Concert

Amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, Marilyn Manson has found an unlikely ally in Kanye West. After appearing alongside Kanye at a listening event for his latest album, Donda, earlier this year, the disgraced rocker was again spotted with Kanye on Sunday — this time at his Sunday Service gospel concert. What’s more, Justin Bieber was also on hand. Manson, Bieber, and rapper Roddy Ricch all joined Kanye and his Sunday Service gospel choir for a rooftop performance held on Halloween. All of the parties were dressed entirely in white — with Manson also choosing to obscure his face with a mask. Alongside performances of Donda tracks like “No Child Left Behind” and “Moon” by the Sunday Service choir, Bieber and Ricch also performed a selection of their own songs. Kanye has seemingly ...

Kanye West Recruits Justin Bieber & Roddy Ricch To Power Halloween Sunday Service

They kicked off with a gospel rendition of Donda‘s “No Child Left Behind” before moving into other standout cuts from the project taking on West’s late mother’s namesake such as “Hurricane,” “Moon” and “Pure Souls” with the help of Compton native Roddy Ricch. Ye then led the charge with vocals from the glorious “Come to Life,” which he even apologized for forgetting some of the lyrics mid-performance. A children’s choir made a guest appearance in mini-white cloaks to match the rest of the Choir’s ensemble. The group of talented kids performed Donda‘s “Jesus Lord” and put a religious spin on Kanye’s 2007 hit “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.” The Sunday Service Choir too...

Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Rebounds for Fifth Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

Of Certified‘s 74,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 28, SEA units comprise 73,000 (down 10%, equaling 99.9 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs); album sales account for less than 1,000 (down 21%); and TEA units also contribute less than 1,000 (down 9%). Notably, the set matches the total weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 of Drake’s prior proper LP, Scorpion, in 2018. Of his 10 No. 1s, the two trail only the reign of Views, which spent 13 weeks at the summit in 2016. Morgan Wallen’s former 10-week Billboard 200 No. 1 Dangerous: The Double Album pushes 8-2 with 42,000 equivalent album units earned (up 1%); Doja Cat’s Planet Her climbs 7-3 (41,000, down 1%); YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s former one-week l...

“The outfit is entirely metal! It’s black chain,” the designer wrote in a separate Instagram post. “The corset is used making a special resin casting process. In one spine-chilling photo, a pale-looking Cardi clutches onto a single red rose, while another pic features the MC leaning against a black hearse. Fedner also gave a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the costume, explaining that it took a full week to create. “The black metal dress is also made using the 6-way stretch metal technique,” she wrote, giving a shout-out to Cardi’s stylist Kollin Carter. “For Cardi, I used the ‘spiderweb’ version of this technique as directed by her stylist, to give the look an extra Halloween twist.” Cardi’s costume wasn’...

Rolling Loud New York Day 3 Recap: Travis Scott, Griselda and More

Rolling Loud New York 2021 came to a close on Saturday (October 30th) after a first day dominated by hometown rappers was followed by J. Cole’s unforgettable performance in a torrential downpour. Inclimate weather was once again in the forecast, but this time around, festivalgoers came more prepared for the elements, bringing along ponchos or rain jackets. In comparison to the night before, Travis Scott dealt with lighter rain, which was probably a good thing considering how hard he and his fans raged throughout his performance. Meanwhile, Griselda played their more traditional brand of hip-hop, and Roddy Ricch continued to develop as a star performer. A$AP Ferg took his audience’s energy levels to their max and City Morgue joined their fans in the pit. Young Nudy played one of the more la...

Addressing his long journey into the Rock Hall, LL Cool J — who received one of the night’s Awards for Musical Excellence — thanked “all of the people who voted for ...

I just do it.’ I looked at Jay and said, ‘My God, man — you just did it again!’” Chappelle’s remarks were preceded by a taped tribute from former President Barack Obama and by a montage of all-stars — including Beyonce and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Diddy, Common, Queen Latifah and others — quoting lyrics from Jay-Z songs. JAY-Z joined the likes of The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, N.W.A., and Public Enemy by becoming the latest hip-hop icon to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not surprisingly, HOV received a star-studded introduction led by former president Barack Obama. “I’ve turned to Jay-Z’s words at different points in my life, whether I was brushing dirt off my shoulder on the campaign trail, or sampling his lyrics on the Edmund Pettus Bridge on the 50th anniversary of the Selma march to Montgomery,” said President Obama. “Today, Jay-Z is one of the most renowned artists in history and an embodiment of the American dream, a dream he has helped make real for other young people like him.” Following Obama’s remarks, a who’s who of A-list stars — including JAY-Z’s wife Beyoncé, Rihanna, Chris Ro...
