Here’s Why Cardi B Isn’t Talking About Politics As Much As She Used To

The 29-year-old MC received a lot of flak when she released her sexually explicit Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “WAP” collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion. And Cardi aptly described the song as “the one that had Republicans crying on Fox News about it.” Ben Shapiro read the uncomfortably censored lyrics on his own show shortly after the single dropped in August 2020 and sarcastically analyzed what part the song plays in the feminist movement. And when Cardi interviewed now-President Joe Biden as well as former Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders ahead of the 2020 presidential election, Shapiro brought his fellow conservative commentator Candace Owens onto his show, who claimed the tactics were “pandering” to Black American voter...

Drake Nearly Quit ‘Degrassi’ Over Wheelchair Storyline’s Effect on His Rap Career, Writer Says

Drake famously started his entertainment career on the Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, on which he starred as Jimmy Brooks for seven seasons. And though his character was part of one of the show’s most high-profile episodes — when Jimmy ended up in a wheelchair after being shot during a terrifying school shooting — Drake initially saw the storyline as a hindrance to his then-budding rap career, according to a new interview with a Degrassi writer. In an oral history honoring the 20th anniversary of the show’s first episode, show writer James Hurst told AV Club that there was pushback from Drake’s camp — back when he was still known as Aubrey Graham — about his return to the show if his character remained in a wheelchair....
