Boosie Unleashes Disgusting Homophobic Rant on Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X is one of the most compelling and innovative artists to emerge in the last decade. Boosie (aka Lil Boosie aka Boosie BadAzz) is a one-time Southern rap titan whose career hit the skids when he decided to name his 2017 album BooPac and never recovered. Nowadays, you’re much more likely to see Boosie’s name in the headlines for the homophobic comments posted to his Twitter than you are for his music. Over the last several months, Boosie has made a number of derogatory comments about the “Industry Baby” rapper and his sexuality. Lil Nas X has mostly ignored Boosie, but during a recent Instagram chat with fans, he joked that the two had collaborated on a new song (via HNHH). “Shit fire,” Lil Nas X quipped. “I ain’t even gonna lie, for real. Gotdamn song with Lil Boosie gonna come out...

While his name trended on Twitter over the hateful remarks, Lil Nas X instead took a moment to write, “i am truly saddened. i have never been so mortif...

Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Scream’-Inspired Halloween Nails Are Scary Good

Megan Thee Stallion continues to be in the Halloween spirit. On Friday (Oct. 22), the “Thot Shit” rapper took to Instagram to share her newest set of spooky nails. “Spooky $et,” the rapper captioned the post of her nails, which features several versions of Ghostface from Scream — one face is bejeweled, while the others are sparkly, starry-eyed and bloody. Along with the images of her decked-out nails, Megan posed in a Ghostface mask and oversize Venom T-shirt, using a knife as a prop to complete the scary look. Finishing off the rapper’s photo set was a screen grab from the 2000 Scream spoof Scary Movie, where “Ghostface” is on the phone telling the person on the other end of the receiver that he’s “just chillin’, ...

Mick Jenkins Drops New Single “Scottie Pippen”: Stream

Earlier this month, Mick Jenkins announced that his new album, Elephant in the Room, would be released soon. Just ahead of its release on October 29th, the Chicago rapper has shared another preview of the project with the single “Scottie Pippen.” “Scottie Pippen,” named after the former Chicago Bulls star, is a dreamy, smooth jazz-influenced track that puts Jenkins’ relaxed flow at the forefront. As Jenkins puts it, however, his points per game isn’t quite as high as the song’s namesake: “No matter how I shoot, I’ll never win it all/ On my own, yeah, without you,” he raps. More heartbroken than victorious, “Scottie Pippen” is a meditation on lost love and the difficult task of moving on. Stream the song below. “Scottie Pippen” follows Mick Jenkins’ previous singles “Truffles” and...

Rap Song of the Week: Maxo Kream Details Immeasurable Loss on “CRIPSTIAN”

Every week, our new music feature Rap Song of the Week breaks down our favorite hip-hop tracks of the week. Check out the full playlist here. This week, we highlight Maxo Kream’s WEIGHT OF THE WORLD opener “CRIPSTIAN.” The world has changed immeasurably in the two years since Maxo Kream released his standout project Brandon Banks, and the Houston rapper might be carrying more weight than anyone else. While still grieving the loss of his brother, Maxo’s grandmother was hospitalized due to COVID and he had a cousin die by suicide — not to mention a friend whose bail was set at a million dollars. Trauma is a theme explored throughout Maxo’s aptly titled new album WEIGHT OF THE WORLD, but the opening track “CRIPSTIAN” distills all his pain from the get-go. In addition to his dad and frien...

Teenage Rapper Einar Fatally Shot in Sweden

Police are looking for at least two suspects who allegedly shot the rapper. The motive of the shooting remains unclear but the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported that the rapper had received several threats recently. It said without providing details that Einar was shot from point-blank range, “execution style.” According to the Swedish public broadcaster SVT, the rapper’s shooting was gang-related. Einar, whose real name is Nils Gronberg, was born in Stockholm and rose to fame at the age of 16 when his song “Katten i trakten,” from his debut album Forsta klass topped the Swedish charts in 2019. He won the song of the year award in 2019 and the newcomer of the year award a year later. Einar’s songs have been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times on Spotify. “I understand that [Eina...

J. Cole Reveals His ‘Vision’ During The Off-Season LA Tour Stop With 21 Savage, Ari Lennox & More

The audience was ecstatic when J. Cole finally hit the stage around 10 p.m. local time. The Grammy-winner made an NBA-starting-lineup-style grand entrance, with cameras following him from the locker room backstage as he made his way through the arena sporting a Los Angeles Lakers-inspired “Dreamer” jersey. On the stage, complete with flashing lights and a basketball hoop that literally spat fire, J. Cole opened his set with his track “95 . S o u t h,” which he followed with “A m a r i” and “Applying . Pressure.” Between songs, the rapper opened up about his experience as an artist and the importance of working through the stage fright that comes with performing his personal-favorite songs that weren’t received as hits. “I had...

Jack Harlow Reveals Some People Didn’t Want Him to Collab With Lil Nas X

Though Harlow talked about how his early music, including breakthrough 2020 hit “Whats Poppin’,” were about baring his soul — but also about going from “just talking s–t” to exploring his life more deeply — there are still some things about that song he doesn’t like. “I am always noticing lines I could improve,” he said about taking a page from Ye. “But I think people appreciate truth and I think when you have guys like Kanye and songs like ‘All Falls Down’ and being that vulnerable… It changed so many people’s lives. As opposed to ‘Here’s why I am the s–t,’ it’s ‘Here’s why I am not the s–t.’” Harlow also got candid about how the music industry has gotten more progressive in recent years, including Lil Nas...
