Fugees Perform “Ready or Not” at First Concert in 15 Years: Watch

Earlier this week, Fugees reunited at New York City’s Pier 17 for their first performance in 15 years. A portion of the concert was filmed for broadcast on Saturday night as part of the Global Citizen Festival. Below, watch their performance of “Ready or Not.” All told, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel performed a seven song set pulling exclusively from their classic album The Score. Though they took the stage nearly four hours late, “in the air there was a genuine sense of rebirth that has been present in very few reunion tours — as if they had, in these 25 years, figured out exactly how to fit in the narrow space between nostalgia and modernity,” wrote Valerie Megan in her review of the concert for Consequence. “It was a glorious victory lap, underlined by the nipping breeze...

Eminem Is Opening a Restaurant Called Mom’s Spaghetti

Slim Shady is officially a restauranteur. On September 29th, Eminem is planning on opening up a restaurant that’s aptly named Mom’s Spaghetti, the Detroit News reports. Its title, of course, is a reference to the rapper’s 2002 smash “Lose Yourself,” pulled from the slightly-unappetizing lyrics: “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy /There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti.” Yum! Eminem previewed his latest business endeavor in a brief commercial that aired on local television this week. The new diner, set to open in downtown Detroit, will offer noodle- and marinara-focused cuisine such as spaghetti sandwiches and the classic spaghetti and meatballs. Additionally, customers can also shop at the attached retail spot called the Trailer, which will be stocked with Emi...

Princess Nokia Drops NSFW Anthem “Boys Are from Mars”: Stream

This year is shaping up to be the year of Princess Nokia. Not long after inking her first major label deal with Arista, co-starring in Kacey Musgraves’ star-crossed film, and making a cameo in HBO’s Gossip Girl reboot, the singer returns today with her raunchy new single, “Boys Are from Mars,” featuring a guest verse from rising rapper Yung Baby Tate. Backed by a beat that feels indebted to 2000s R&B greats, the new track updates the elementary school riddle into an NSFW kiss-off to all the emotionally oblivious, mediocre-in-bed men you’ll inevitably encounter in life. “Can’t make me cum but think you’re a genius,” Princess Nokia sings in an ethereal harmony. “Boys are from Mars, girls are from Venus.” By the time Yung Baby Tate’s verse kicks in, “Boys Are from Mars” thr...

Rap Song of the Week: Lil Wayne Tag Teams with Run the Jewels on “ooh la la” Remix

Rap Song of the Week breaks down the essential rap and hip-hop tracks you need to hear every week. Check out the full playlist here. This week, Lil Wayne hops on Run the Jewels’ remix of “ooh la la.” Mixing the cutting edge sensibilities of Run the Jewels with their love for Golden Era hip-hop thanks to contributions from the legendary Greg Nice and DJ Premier, “ooh la la” instantly became a standout entry in their catalog when it was released in 2020. For the remix, El-P and Killer Mike recruited Lil Wayne, another veteran MC who has nothing to prove this deep into his career but continues to go toe-to-toe with the best rappers of any generation. Only getting better with age as he turns 39 years old this September, Wayne has been on a hot streak this year, popping up on tracks alongside r...
