Cole has teamed up with his Dreamville Records protege Bas for the new single “The Jackie.” The self-proclaimed “summer anthem” boasts a verse from Bronx rapper Lil Tjay, and arrives with an accompanying music video. “The Jackie” is a caffeinated, heavy-hitting trap song that acts as an ode of sorts to New York summer nights. “I’m on the way, send me the addy, I’m on the Jackie,” Bas raps, referencing the Jackie Robinson Parkway in his home borough of Queens. “Five on the belt, ten on the jacket, you gotta have me.” The carefree video sees the song’s stars cruising through New York’s streets. Stream “The Jackie” below. J. Cole’s last full-length album, The Off-Season, arrived last May, and also featured contributions from Bas. “I was just learning how to speak appropriately. How to say things with the right production, tempo, and cadence so that they are understood in the right light,” he explains. Staples is also juggling the numerous other creative endeavors he has his hands in. In addition to this project, the “Norf Norf” rapper has his graphic novel Limbo Beach, Netflix’s The Vince Staples Show, an Amazon podcast, and his next album Ramona Park Broke My Heart in tow. Check out our interview with Vince Staples, where he speaks on Tyler, The Creator’s work ethic paying off, leaving Def Jam for Motown Records, and putting a bow on the Los Angeles Clippers season. Vince Staples is home again — and while that home of Long Beach, California might look the same to him in a lot of ways, there’s no denying that the rapper is the one who’s changed. Vince Staples, the ten-track self-titled LP, is the artist’s fourth studio album and feels like more of an evolution than a departure from his earlier work. Remarkably slight at just over 20 minutes, Vince Staples swims in a world separate from 2017’s stylish, avant-garde Big Fish Theory or 2018’s bigger, feature-heavy FM!. Instead, the album is a bit of a slow burn, simmering and sitting in a lower, smoother groove than much of Staples’ discography to date. (Kenny Beats produced the entire album.) The result is incredibly cohesive, though, and if Staples was interested in telling his own story in his own way, ...
Rapper Lil Baby has been detained as part of a narcotics investigation in Paris, France. He had been taking in Fashion Week with NBA player James Harden, who was also questioned by police but not arrested. The news was first reported by Le Parisien and has since been confirmed by NBC News. Reportedly, the two men were among a group stopped by law enforcement officials at around 4:50 p.m. local time. The cops said they smelled marijuana, and bystander footage shows them going through Harden’s pockets. Harden can be heard saying, “It’s ok,” and “I don’t understand.” Check out the video below. The Brooklyn Nets’ star seems to be in the clear, while Lil Baby, whose birth name is Dominique Armani Jones, was arrested alongside one other unidentified individual. The investigat...
“It’s always important for me to say something with my music, even if the deeper message is hidden inside of what sounds like a fun, upbeat song,” he says of the new number. In “Say So,” he tapped into the idea that, in times of trouble, “we often try to act like we’re still okay, even when we really aren’t. No matter how bad the situation is or how close we are to self-destructing, we think that, if we keep telling ourselves we’re ok, then maybe we will be.” It’s something of an exercise in self-help awareness. “We think ‘if we say so, then we say so..’ but really we need help,” he continues. Originally released in 2019, “Astronaut” floated into orbit after going viral on TikTok earlier in the year. Since then, Wolf has performed on The Tonight Show Starring ...

Today, Vince Staples returns with his new self-titled album. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below. The 10-track project runs just over 20 minutes and was entirely produced by his frequent collaborator, Kenny Beats. In a previous statement, the Long Beach rapper explained why he went the self-titled route. “It really gives much more information about me that wasn’t out there before,” Staples said about the album. “I feel like I’ve been trying to tell the same story. As you go on in life, your point of view changes. This is another take on myself that I might not have had before.” Related Video Ahead of the LP’s release, he shared the singles “ARE YOU WITH THAT?” and “LAW OF AVERAGES.” The self-titled effort is the first of two new albums Staples has in the pipeline. He confirmed ...
Just about this time last year, Post Malone hopped on a Tyla Yaweh track called “Tommy Lee” that happened to feature the actual Tommy Lee on drums. It’s clear Posty has a deep love for Lee’s band Mötley Crüe, as he’s now returned with a new single called “Motley Crew”. (See what he did there?) The song is Post Malone’s first solo release since dropping Hollywood’s Bleeding back in 2019. “I’m with the fast and furious/ We in the club, tearing it/ I got the commas, period,” he raps on the fresh track. “Covered in ice, Siberia/ I’m at the top of the pyramid/ Bitch I’m a star, I’m Sirius.” While the icy cut may be an individual effort, the accompanying music video finds him hanging out with — well, what can we say, it’s a motley crew. Set at a NASCAR racetrack which Posty spends some time turn...
