Pray For Haiti is the first collaboration between Westside Gunn and Mach-Hommy since they first went their separate ways in the early 2010s. Fans came up with all types of theories as to why there was friction, but at the end of the day, as Westside Gunn says, “We picked up right where we left off.” Time apart couldn’t tarnish the impeccable synergy Mach-Hommy and Westside Gunn show on Pray For Haiti. Mach leads the way with his complex array of bars, while Gunn’s ability to curate a well-rounded tracklist brings the masked rapper’s vision to life. “Who the f–k I’m supposed to call?” says Mach when asked why Gunn was the best choice to executive produce his album. “There’s somebody else for me to call? He’s ...
Music lovers had some great new releases to dive into this week, including standouts from DaBaby, H.E.R., Tyler, The Creator, and more. Billboard wants to know which one tops your list! This week, Charlotte superstar DaBaby dropped “Ball If I Want To,” his second solo single of 2021 after “Masterpiece.” Clocking in just under two minutes, the raunchy new track is filled with not-so-thinly veiled sexual innuendo, and finds the rapper making his music video directorial debut with a rowdy high school-themed visual. On the heels of winning a Grammy Award for “I Can’t Breathe” and an Academy Award for “Fight For You,” H.E.R. releases her engrossing new album, Back of My Mind. The R&B star’s debut full-length spans 21 tracks and features appearances by Ty Dolla ...
DaBaby is back with “Ball if I Want To”, his second single in the wake of his 2020 EP My Brother’s Keeper (Long Live G). On the braggadocios track, the rapper unapologetically flexes while running through verses about chartering private jets, name-dropping family members, and boasting about his sexual prowess. “Bitch, it ain’t even my birthday/ But I can ball if I want to/ Pull up, foreign cars if I want to/ Hop out that bitch with that iron in my jumpsuit/ Just do what I say and I love you, kay?” he raps over a sparse beat and an echoing choral sample. The song also arrives with a video directed by DaBaby himself. It finds the rapper goofing off on a college campus, complete with a cheerleading squad, library parties, and a mascot of a giant baby. Watch DaBaby’s self-directed “Ball if I W...
Wiz Khalifa has been cast as funk legend George Clinton in Spinning Gold, an upcoming biopic about Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart. As Deadline reports, the film will focus on the rise of Bogart’s labels, Casablanca and Buddah Records, throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s. In the latter decade, Casablanca put out records by the iconic psych-soul collective Parliament, which Clinton fronted. The Spinning Gold cast will also feature Jeremy Jordan as Bogart, Tayla Parx as Donna Summer, Ledisi as Gladys Knight, and Lyndsy Fonseca as music manager Joyce Biawitz. Other supporting actors include Jason Derulo, Jay Pharaoh, Jason Isaacs, Peyton List, and Alex Gaskarth. A film like this requires a top-tier soundtrack, and this is already shaping up to be a good one. The Spinning Gold cast will r...
The raunchy “Ball If I Want To,” produced by D.A. Got That Dope, is DaBaby’s second new song of this year following “Masterpiece.” The rapper has been hard at work in recent months, appearing on songs by Yo Gotti (“Drop”), DJ Khaled (“I Did It”), and Polo G (“Party Lyfe”). In May, DaBaby won the top rap song award for “Rockstar” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. The single, featuring Roddy Ricch, spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “It’s nothing short of a blessing,” Baby said during his acceptance speech. “If y’all don’t press play, the music don’t get heard.” DaBaby, who has seven nominations at the 2021 BET Awards, putting him in a tie with Meg...

The “Lumber” clip was directed by Tyler using his Wolf Haley alias, and it opens with the MC enjoying a snack in bed as he checks out a magazine. A phone call inspired him to jump out of bed and begin rapping, “N—-s ain’t really on the type of s— he on/ I hit Drizzy and told him I had a milli for him/ I own my companies full, told ’em to keep the loan/ I took the gold b—- home, n—-s is big mad/ I put that b—- on the shelf to let it ventilate/ And bought another car ’cause I ain’t know how to celebrate/ That big boy, that big b—- for all weather/ It never rain in Cali, came with an umbrella.” The video closes with Tyler trapped in a blizzard, rapping, “Used to laugh at me, listen to me with their ears closed/ Used to tre...
It was a certified ladies’ night at LIV Nightclub — if this truly were a playoff game, Trina would automatically have home-court advantage as Miami’s own, while Eve was videoing in from London — as the two competitors lathered each other in love, dancing along when the other was performing and noting favorites from each other’s catalog. Trina had previously said she really wanted to do a Verzuz with Lil’ Kim, but toward the end of her battle (read: celebration) with Eve, she put an end to that rumor. “I wouldn’t have wanted to do this with nobody else than my sister, Eve,” the Diamond Princess said. “We’ve been knowing each other for over 20 years. We always showed love, we always supported each other, we always held each other down.” The bars were flying, and with them came no...
Bust out your Tune Squad jerseys because Republic Records and has revealed the complete tracklisting for Space Jam: A New Legacy. In addition to lead single “We Win (Space Jam: A New Legacy)” by Lil Baby and Kirk Franklin, the soundtrack will include an eclectic roster of brand new contributions by the Jonas Brothers (“Mercy”), BROCKHAMPTON (“MVP”), John Legend (“Crowd Go Crazy”), and more. All of the artists on the 16-track LP were revealed via a special video announcement, which kicked off with LeBron James passing the basketball to Bugs Bunny — who subsequently keeps the action going by tossing the ball to the JoBros, Aminé and Lil Baby in turn before it’s snagged by the Tazmanian Devil. Fellow Tune Squad team member Lola Bunny also makes an appearance between the likes of Anthony Ramos...
