Five Burning Questions: Lil Baby and Lil Durk’s ‘The Voice of the Heroes’ Tops the Billboard 200

1. Lil Durk and Lil Baby move an impressive 150,000 units of their near-surprise album Voice of the Heroes in its first week. Is that 150k number mostly attributable to their combined star power at this point, or is there something else the album does particularly well to poise it for such a strong bow? Carl Lamarre: Combined star-power propelled Heroes to top chair and leader on the Billboard 200. If you remember, Lil Baby himself was coming off a dominant 2020 campaign where he logged almost 200,000 first-week album-equivalent units with his sophomore project My Turn. Now, you couple his torrid success with Durk’s growing mainstream appeal (Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” going No. 2 on the Hot 100 and netting a No. 2-peaking project on...

Rick Ross Saves Money by Mowing His Own Lawn

Rick Ross lives in a literal mansion. The veteran rapper spends his days in a 45,000 square-foot house in Fayetteville, Georgia with 235 gorgeous acres surrounding it. That’s a lot of land to take care of, but according to a new interview, Ross actually mows his own lawn himself — and he estimates he’s saved nearly $1 million a year in the process. As Complex notes, Ross’ estate was previously owned by boxing legend Evander Holyfield. The two are similar in that they’re both ridiculously wealthy, but clearly Ross has more fiscal responsibility than the sports icon. In an interview with Forbes, Ross explained the ways in which he’s both earned and protected his income over the years, and one of the biggest ways to save is by doing things yourself. As Ross explained, “When I bought the Fayet...

The mysterious rollout of Tyler, the Creator’s new album continues with “Side Street”, a 40-second teaser with a twist ending. Album clues began dropping last week with a secretive website and billboard that seemed to promote something entitled Call Me if You Get Lost. “Side Street” doesn’t offer much new context, unless you think of the sunny woodwinds as an insight into Tyler’s sonic palette. Instead, it’s more of a skit. The rapper is seen on the hood of a pink car, holding a dog’s leash and kissing a woman. We won’t ruin the surprise at the end, but it does feature a cameo from Taco Bennett, alumnus of Tyler’s Odd Future collective and current co-star of FXX’s Dave. Check out “Side Street” below. BTS’ 8-Year Anniversary “Festa” Celebration Was Proof That Teamwork Makes The Dream Work

“A miracle isn’t huge, it’s just this,” BTS leader RM said, his expression a bit heavy during the closing comments of the two-day concert weekend, in celebration of the group’s eighth year together. “It’s just this, this communion we feel.” RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook know a thing or two about communion. While the pandemic has continued to delay their world tour that was slated for 2020, and prevented the Korean septet from attending their first Grammys as nominees or performing in front of any audiences, they’ve found other ways to connect with fans throughout these difficult months. Hope is on the horizon, and it’s almost poetic that today, June 14, South Korea lifted concert restrictions, allowing up to 4,000 people at future events, missing BTS’ anniversary extravagan...
