Megan Thee Stallion Slams Kentucky AG for Breonna Taylor Decision With ‘SNL’ Performance

It was immediately followed by audio of activist Tamika Mallory’s criticism of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, after his decision to charge one of the three officers in the death of Breonna Taylor with wanton endangerment for firing into her home: “Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout negroes that sold our people into slavery.” Taylor died while asleep in her bed March 13 after the Louisville police officers raided her home with a no-knock warrant. There were no other charges against law enforcement for their roles in her death. After the audio clips played, Megan Thee Stallion had a few words of her own to share. “We need to protect our black woman and love our black women, because at the end of the day, we need our women,” she said. LL Cool J Has Something Else for Kanye West to Disrespect Instead of a Grammy

Add LL Cool J to the list of people who weren’t too happy about one of Kanye West‘s recent tweets. In an interview with Desus & Mero, the artist opened up about how he felt after seeing West’s Sept. 16 Twitter video in which the “Wash Us in the Blood” rapper appeared to urinate on a Grammy that had been placed in a toilet. When Desus asked LL what it was like to host the Grammys, the artist kicked off his opinion of the Yeezy designer’s actions. “I think, like — with all due respect — I think Kanye should maybe piss on a Yeezy or something,” he said. “I felt some kind of way about that s–t. I didn’t love that s–t because I hosted the Grammys for five years.” “Yeah, the Grammys didn’t g...

Tekashi 6ix9ine Hospitalized After Overdosing on Weight Loss Pills and Caffeine

Tekashi 6ix9ine recently spent two days in the hospital after overdosing on diet pills and caffeine. In an interview with The Shade Room, the TattleTales rapper said the combination of Hydroxycut and McDonald’s coffee caused him to experience an “overdose reaction.” 6ix9ine began taking Hydroxycut, a weight loss supplement, following his release from prison earlier this year. Though he’s already down 25 pounds, 6ix9ine admitted to taking double the recommended amount. According to The Shade Room, Tekashi has since been discharged from the hospital and is “doing fine.” Despite the adverse effects, he intends to continue taking Hydroxycut until he reaches his pre-prison weight of 150 pounds, at which point he plans to rejoin Instagram. In February 2019, 6ix9ine was sentenced to 24 month...

Kali Uchis Shares Spanish-Language Single “La Luz”: Stream

Over the summer, Kali Uchis shared the Rico Nasty collaboration “Aquí Yo Mando”. The track found Uchis singing mostly in Spanish for the first time, and it looks like we can expect a lot more bilingual lyrics from the Colombian-American artist. She’s today shared “La Luz”, the second single from her forthcoming sophomore full-length, which is said to be “her first Spanish language project.” “La Luz” — which translates simply to “the light” — features a guest verse from Puerto Rico singer-songwriter Jhay Cortez alongside production from Tainy. The Latin vibes are strong with this one, bouncing slowly on a sweaty beach groove. Like “Aquí Yo Mando” before it, the track finds Uchis making it very clear who’s in control. “You or if it’s not me/ We’re going to turn the lights off/ And we’re goin...

Megan Thee Stallion Uses SNL Debut to Demand Justice for Breonna Taylor: Watch

Megan Thee Stallion used her Saturday Night Live debut to demand justice for Breonna Taylor and publicly rebuke Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron over his handling of Taylor’s murder case. Midway through her performance of “Savage”, Megan played audio of Malcolm X’s “Who Taught You To Hate?” speech in addition to recent comments made by activist Tamika Mallory, who accused Cameron of being “no different than the sellout negroes that sold our people into slavery.” Megan herself then proclaimed, “We need to protect our Black women and love our Black women, because at the end of the day, we need our Black women.”. At the end of the performance, Megan and her dancers raised their fists, and the message “Protect Black Women” was displayed on the video screens in the background. Last...

DaBaby Joins Dua Lipa on New Version of “Levitating”: Stream

Back in August, Dua Lipa teamed with Madonna and Missy Elliott for a remix of her Future Nostalgia track “Levitating”. Now she’s back with another new version of the song, this one featuring rapper DaBaby. Unlike the Madge and Missy take, which vastly altered the song’s sound for the Club Future Nostalgia remix album, this rendition of “Levitating” isn’t really a remix. The electro-disco vibes, equal parts bubbly and sexy, are very much intact. The only real difference is the appearance of DaBaby, who drops in for a verse in which he raps, “I had to lace my shoes for all the blessings I was chasin’/ If I ever slip, I’ll fall into a better situation/ So catch up, go put some cheese on it/ Get out and get your bread up.” The Charlotte MC also appears in the single’s music video, which was ma...

Kanye West is sending positive vibes to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump as they undergo treatment for COVID-19. West, who is running against Trump in the upcoming presidential election, took to Twitter on Saturday morning (Oct. 3) to express his concern for the president and first lady after news broke early Friday that they were diagnosed with coronavirus. “There’s a crying need for civility across the board. We need to and will come together in the name of Jesus,” West wrote. “I’m praying for President Trump’s and Melania’s full recovery, just as I would for Joe and Jill Biden if they were stricken, as well as everyone else with COVID-19.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Travis Scott Performs “Franchise” on Kimmel with M.I.A. and Young Thug: Watch

Young Thug, Travis Scott, and M.I.A. on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Travis Scott was both the lead guest and musical performer on the Thursday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. When he wasn’t pimping burgers for McDonald’s, Scott reminded everyone that there’s an artist lurking beneath the brands with a performance of “Franchise”. Scott’s interview covered his new promotional deal with the Golden Arches, which is basically just a quarter pounder meal with limited options. The so-called “Travis Scott Meal” became a TikTok sensation, and so popular that some stores began to run out of quarter-pound patties. The Houston rapper then shifted into high gear for his delivery of “Franchise”, assisted remotely by collaborators M.I.A. and Young Thug. The high-production performance played out more l...

Travis Scott Shares the Inspiration Behind the Bacon & Extra Lettuce in His McDonald’s Meal

When Kimmel inquired about the peculiar customizations to the quarter pounder, including the bacon, Scott shared, “The first thing my dad ever gave me was bacon, so when I was on the phone with them, we were talking about something else and I was like, ‘Yo, I love the quarter pounder and I’d love to add bacon on it.’” As for the extra lettuce, the Houston rapper laughed before noting, “I might order my sandwich a little weird but that’s just the whip, and you’ve got to order the barbecue sauce on the side with the fries, you know what I mean? With the ketchup.” Watch the full interview below, in which Scott also discusses his action figure, his love for basketball and more. Denzel Curry Unleashes Furious New Song “Live from the Abyss”: Stream

Back in June, Denzel Curry lent his fury to the protest song “PIG FEET”, featuring Terrace Martin and Kamasi Washington. Judging by his newest single, “Live from the Abyss”, the Florida rapper is still very much up in arms over our current state of affairs. Although a slow-burning affair production-wise, Curry’s raging bars carry intense heat. “I don’t fuck with my president,” he declares at one point, echoing a majority of Americans. As his anger over Trump and racism mounts, Curry closes the track nearly scream-growling into the mic. “Live from the Abyss” is officially the mood for 2020. Stream the track below. To coincide with Bandcamp Friday, all net proceeds through the month of October will be donated to the protest group Dream Defenders. Its mission reads: “We are an uprising of reb...
