Lil Durk is taking some time off to recover following an onstage mishap at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago. A major accident befell Lil Durk during his Lollapalooza set on Saturday, July 30th when an onstage pyrotechnic blew up in his face. In fan-captured video of the performance, the “What Happened to Virgil” rapper can be seen covering his face with his T-shirt after walking through the blast, but ended up finishing his full set after taking a moment to reorient himself. (During the performance, Lil Durk also had what appears to be milk inexplicably thrown at him from the crowd.) However, he revealed on Instagram later in the day that he actually went to the hospital upon leaving the festival, posting a selfie with a mask on and his eye covered in a giant bandage. “Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health. America’s favorite Canadian Drake hosted a big night of music on Thursday (July 28th) called All Canadian North Stars, a concert spotlighting some of his home country’s best hip-hop exports. As a surprise during his October World Weekend festival, the rapper brought out 2000s pop icon Nelly Furtado to duet her 2000 hit “I’m Like a Bird.” “Right now I need you to sing as loud as you possibly can, because this right here took a lot,” Drizzy told the crowd at the Toronto venue HISTORY. “This next person’s music changed my life so much. I love her with all my heart.” Cue Furtado’s entrance to her unforgettable smash “Promiscuous,” which immediately set the crowd into a frenzy. Considering the singer hasn’t toured since 2017, the reaction feels very appropriate. Drake and Furtado then led the c...
For the past several months, breakup rumors have been circling Migos. Now, Quavo and Takeoff have added fuel to the fire after being announced for a Migos show without Offset and dropping another track called “Us vs. Them” that doesn’t feature him as well. Produced by DJ Durel, Duce, Eza, and Money Musik. “Us vs. Them” includes a guest appearance from Gucci Mane in which he shouts out Young Thug and Gunna. Otherwise, it’s an unremarkable trap anthem where Quavo compares the duo to the Golden State Warriors’ championship-winning backcourt of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson (which would apparently make Offset Draymond Green). Watch the music video below. “Us vs. Them” follows May’s “Hotel Lobby,” which Quavo and Takeoff released under the name Unc and Phew. At the time, it was unclear whe...
Kelis has much more to say about being sampled on Beyoncé‘s Renaissance album. After venting her anger about what she claimed was Bey and The Neptunes alleged failure to secure her permission to sample the 1999 song “Get Along With You” on the Renaissance track “Energy,” the “Milkshake” star dove deeper into why she feels slighted in a series of videos posted on Thursday night (July 28). Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “I’m an artist, so I am as Erykah [Badu] said ‘I’m sensitive about my s—,’” Kelis said. “The reality is that my real beef, is not only with Beyoncé, because at the end of the day, she sampled a record, she’s copied me before, so have many other artists, it’s fine, I don’t care about that.” The Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams an...
Beyoncé’s upcoming album Renaissance, out July 29th, has a long list of famous names in its writing credits, but one name missing from the list is Kelis, who isn’t too happy about the omission. The artist says she was sampled on the album without her permission, and is calling out Beyoncé and The Neptunes — who produced the sampled song in question — for “theft.” Beyoncé’s song “Energy” samples Kelis’ 2000 track “Get Along with You,” and while The Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo are credited on the album, Kelis is not. The artist is quick to concede that Williams and Hugo are the officially credited writers and producers of the original song, thanks to a record deal that essentially prevented her from owning any of her own music. Still, the artist took to Instagram to blast ...
Leaks not withstanding, Beyoncé’s new album is officially out. Stream Renaissance below. Marking the highly anticipated follow-up to 2016’s Lemonade, Beyoncé previewed Renaissance by sharing the statement, “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration. I hope you find joy in this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wiggle. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.” Just hours before the release of Renaissance, Beyoncé confir...

Guys love to act tough until they hear “LOVE” by Kendrick Lamar. K-dot himself has responded to a TikTok that went viral over the weekend, in which a security guard on the job at the rapper’s Houston show can be seen openly crying to the DAMN. highlight. Jazlyn Guerra — a Brooklyn-based kid journalist who posts interviews to her Instagram @jazzysworldtv — spoke with Kendrick about the video a few days later at Rolling Loud. “At the end of the day, past all the politics, past all the numbers, [what’s most important is] what music makes you feel, you know?” Lamar told her. “To see that — and shoutout to him, by the way, because I see you, bro — I was like, ‘man, I wonder what he’s going through,’” the rapper went on. “At the end of the day, that’s how you want everyone to receive your music,...
