Dr. Dre’s Divorce Finalized, Nicole Young Awarded More Than 20% of His Net Worth
After more than year of acrimonious divorce proceedings, Dr. Dre and Nicole Young are finally ready for the next episode. As Rolling Stone notes, their divorce is now finalized, and the couple will move on from recent accusations of domestic abuse as Young walks away with more than 20% of Dre’s net worth. The couple married in 1996 and Young filed for divorce after 24 years together in June 2020. As part of the split, she’s been awarded $100 million, which includes more than half of Dre’s liquid assets, as well as a Rolls Royce, Range Rover, Spyder motorcycle, Escalade limousine, and all of her jewelry. If you’ve been using your extra time at home lately as an excuse to build your physical music library, you’re certainly not alone: Americans bought 2.11 million vinyl records in the week ending on December 23rd, according to Billboard. This marks vinyl’s biggest week in sales since SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991, as well as the first time vinyl sales have exceeded two million units in decades. 41,500 of those sales went to Kid Cudi, whose Man on the Moon III: The Chosen just broke the record for the biggest vinyl sales week for both a male artist and a rap album in Nielsen history. Bronx rapper Kay Flock was arrested on murder charges on Thursday, December 23rd. The 18-year-old musician (born Kevin Perez) is accused of killing Oscar Hernandez, 24, outside of a Harlem barbershop on December 16th. According to the New York Daily News, Hernandez was sitting in a barber shop waiting to get a haircut when Perez walked by, opened the shop’s door, and asked Hernandez what he was looking at.
