A lawsuit filed on behalf of 125 Astroworld 2021 attendees, including some family members of the ten people killed in the crowd crush, is seeking $750 million in damages from Travis Scott, Drake, promoter Live Nation, and Apple Music, which livestreamed the festival. Houston attorney Tony Buzbee made the announcement on Instagram, pledging that “every individual who attended that concert and who suffered injury will be fairly compensated.” Buzbee is a colorful character — a onetime Democratic Party official who later became an ally of Republican Governor Rick Perry, Buzbee ran for mayor of Houston in 2019 as an Independent, losing in a runoff with 43% of the vote. His website, JustWin.com, boasts of “$10 billion recovered” for his clients. Buzbee said he is representing the family of...
If a picture can speak a thousand words, a new photo of Drake and Kanye West could be fleshed out for a book. The hip-hop stars have been feuding in a war of words for more than a decade. It’s gone on so long, no one seems to remember who fired the first missile, though the verbal projectiles have been constant. West and Drake even clashed heads in the lead-up of their respective albums Donda and Certified Lover Boy. After ‘Ye briefly leaked Drake’s address, the OVO MC seemed to take shots at him on his song “7am on Bridle Path,” and later leaked ‘Ye and André 3000’s “Life of the Party” collab that didn’t make the cut on Donda. In a scene straight out of Succession, Wyclef Jean was hired to play a corporate gig for Range Rover, only to then nearly paralyze the company’s CEO by dropping him on his head. TMZ has video of the incident (see below), which occurred at the Range Rover Leadership Summit on Monday night. At some point during the evening, Wyclef decided to hoist the company’s CEO and President, Joe Eberhardt, onto his shoulders. With The Outfield’s “I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love Tonight” playing in the background, the two basked in the surreal moment — until it all came tumbling down. Wyclef eventually lost his balance and proceeded to drop the elder Eberhardt right on his head. Fortunately, Eberhardt escaped seriously injury, but he certainly appears dazed in the video, and ended up leaving the party early...

Kanye West and Drake’s long-running beef is apparently over. The rappers — who have had issues for a while, but escalated their drama with diss tracks and inflammatory social media posts in recent months — took to Instagram this evening to mark the end of their feud with photos and videos of themselves hanging out together. Ye posted a photo of himself posing with Drake and Rap-A-Lot Records CEO J Prince; he captioned the image with the emoji for the white dove of peace. Drake, meanwhile, posted a video of Dave Chappelle speaking at the Canadian rapper’s home about the pair’s reconciliation, followed with another clip of himself and Ye together. “You have reached your destination,” the post’s caption reads. The olive branch was actually extended last week when Ye invited Drake to perform a...

Perhaps all this talk of manifestation is real — if you’re Big Boi of OutKast, at least. For roughly a decade, the rapper has been talking about a dream collaboration with English singer-songwriter Kate Bush, and he recently revealed they’ve recorded a song together that’s ready to be released. Big Boi spoke about the collaboration during an interview with Mark Ronson on The FADER Uncovered podcast. “I have a monster hit with Kate Bush that I’m just holding,” he said. “It’s a dream come true and the people are going to fucking love it. It’s fucking incredible.” During the sitdown, Big Boi recalled meeting Bush backstage in London while OutKast was in town for their 2014 reunion tour and Bush was in the midst of her Before the Dawn residency. “I got tickets, me and my wife, and we went...
Your Old Droog has announced a new album, Space Bar. It’s out November 29th, and as a preview YOD has uncorked the song “Meteor Man” featuring Lil Ugly Mane and billy woods. Space Bar will be Droog’s fourth (!) album of 2021, following TIME and his two collaborations with Tha God Fahim, Tha Wolf on Wall St and Tha YOD Fahim. As for “Meteor Man,” the song boasts a beat by Sadhu Gold. It opens with two thumps of a drum and an incessant whine that turns into a wall of sound, as the three MCs unspool an all-bars, no hook slugfest. Droog establishes the tone with his conversational flow, setting himself up, “Like Mace Windu priming for the great swindle/ Don’t act surprised when you see me poly with Kylie and Kendall.” Lil Ugly Mane raps, “If cops throw they l...

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner confirmed Blount’s tragic death in a post he shared Sunday (Nov. 14), tweeting, “I am saddened to learn of Ezra’s death this evening. Our city tonight prays for his mom, dad, grandparents, other family members and classmates at this time. They will need all of our support in the months and years to come. May God give them strength. RIP Ezra.” The late child’s grandfather, Bernon Blount, told The Associated Press of the incident, “They were expecting to come and have a good time with each other, bond as father and son, and it turned into a tragic event because of the negligence of others.” Following the fatalities, a slew of lawsuits have been filed against Scott, fellow rapper Drake (who performed d...
The second edition of Goldenvoice’s hotly-anticipated Day N Vegas Festival brought a range of performances from hip-hop and R&B acts to the Las Vegas Festival Grounds for three nights over the November 12th-14th weekend. On the heels of the November 5th crowd surge and mass-casualty event at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, the hours leading into Day N Vegas took a cautionary tone. Earlier in the week, Scott pulled out of his night two headlining slot at DNV and was replaced by Post Malone; news outlets clamored to inform the public of the festival’s safety plan and organizers made additional checks and balances on crowd control. While the emphasis on fan safety struck a hyper-vigilant chord, the event was incident free and high on big moments, wrapping up a short but sweet ’21 fest...
Lil Nas touched on other rappers throughout the interview and revealed how he felt about losing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 to Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. “I did feel like that [I had to work harder]. Then I got out of it, and all I thought about was how blessed I am. About where I was three years ago. Nobody even thought that I would be here. Everybody was like, ‘One-hit-wonder this, one-hit-wonder that.’ And now it’s amazing that my competition was Drake,” the 22-year-old reflected. “Drake, with this huge album and the most first-week sales of the year. Plus, Drake’s my idol. There are too many other wins to be upset.” During a personal moment in the interview, the rapper also spoke about how tough it was for him to talk about his family...
