Titus Andronicus are celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Monitor by hitting the road for a North American tour. The indie rockers will perform the 2010 breakthrough album in full on the 15-city trek, which kicks off this November. The celebration of the milestone anniversary was originally scheduled for 2020, but was cancelled due to the global coronavirus pandemic.”As the 10th anniversary came and went, I considered scrapping the whole thing,” frontman Patrick Stickles said in a statement. “But my audience has helped me so much to endure during this difficult time, and knowing how much they themselves have had to endure, I couldn’t ignore or deny that they deserve a little treat. After so many years of doing whatever I want, for once, I’m going to give the people what they want....

Lucy Dacus’ third album, Home Video, is out this Friday, and the singer-songwriter celebrated release week with a remote musical guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Performing her latest single “Brando” from the Virginia Repertory Theatre, Dacus aptly brought an old Hollywood style to complement the track’s classic film references. Complete with sequined dresses, bowties, and a dance routine that would make Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers proud, Dacus’ performance of “Brando” begins with a black-and-white filter that bursts into color just in time for the song’s climax. With the vintage setting of the theatre as their backdrop, Dacus, her band, and her dancers feel like they’re lifted straight from a 1940s film. Watch the clip below. “Brando” is the fourth and final preview we get o...
Listen via Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Play | Stitcher | Radio Public | RSS Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock speaks with Kyle Meredith about The Golden Casket, the band’s first album since 2015. The frontman also tells us about the sound experiments he has been working on over the past few years, having kids, and the album he had talked about releasing after Strangers to Ourselves (which he still has, and likes). Brock goes on to discuss his penchant for writing about the universe, the unseen parts of our environment that includes sound waves, and aliens. In fact, there is quite a bit of talk of UFOs, 3rd Eye Spies, and the Phoenix Lights, both in relation to his own experiences and how they work themselves into the record. Relat...
Just Like Heaven is returning in 2022 with another lineup built out of a mid-2000s playlist fever dream. Produced by Goldenvoice, the same folks behind Coachella, the second Just Like Heaven festival is set to take place May 21st, 2022 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The inaugural festival went down in 2019 with a lineup seemingly designed for Millennial indie heads, and the 2022 bill is no different. Interpol, Modest Mouse, The Shins, and M.I.A. top the bill, which is fleshed out by the likes of Bloc Party (with Kele Okereke also putting on a DJ set), Franz Ferdinand, Chromeo, Santigold, Cut Copy, Peaches, and Wolf Parade performing their classic Apologies to the Queen Mary. Rounding out Just Like Heaven will be !!!, The Raveonettes, The Go! Team, The Cribs, Yelle, Islands...
Helado Negro has announced the new album Far In. As a preview of the October 22nd release, the artist born Roberto Carlos Lange has shared the disco-tinged single “Gemini and Leo”. The follow-up to 2019’s This Is How You Smile, Far In will be Lange’s debut album on 4AD. The 15-track effort features guest vocals by Kacy Hill, Buscabulla, and Benamin, though that’s not the only talent on display. “Gemini and Leo” boasts a bass line courtesy of Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes), and backing vocals from Zenizen’s Opal Hoyt. The upbeat drums keep the shimmering production humming along, and it’s easy to find yourself wanting to imitate the titular protagonists. “Gemini and Leo,” Lange sings, “Dancing on the floor all night.” The song comes with an animated music video di...

(portrayed by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco) has dropped his new single “Cold Water” with a guest appearance by none other than Duke Silver. This gentle track from the OG indie rocker of Pawnee, Indiana is set to appear on Mouse Rat’s upcoming LP The Awesome Album. Gang of Youths are back with “The Angel of 8th Ave”, the Australian rock band’s first new song in four years. The heartland rock anthem finds Gang of Youths in their element, as they channel Bruce Springsteen and U2 on a track made to be heard in an arena. “I wanna lay me down and be lover of the year,” David Le’aupepe earnestly sings. “In this strange new town/ This strange hemisphere.” In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Le’aupepe described “The Angel of 8th Ave” as “kind of a lightning strike.” He added, “I think we wanted those things that had kind of inertia and energy and to have that sensibility. But I think there was kind of a part of us that wanted to still tip the cap to what we’d been for so long, but also gestured to the future and gestures to the sounds that we’re ob...
