Source: JP Yim / Getty DJ’s have literally been saving our lives thanks to their Instagram Live DJ sets. BUT due to music rights, Instagram has been cracking down on the streams. One duo found a loophole and decided to troll the social media platform. Brooklyn’s own Jean Grae and Donwill came up with the brilliant idea to hold the first-ever “Instagram Approved DJ Set.” Grae and Donwill decided to produce the set after they saw a Page Six article that highlighted Instagram cracking down on DJs due to music copyright issues. The Facebook-owned company then posted a set of guidelines last week that pointed out to users that it has a library of “generic music” and sound effects that DJs could use without having to worry about their lives being shut down. John Boyega is a man who stands by his words. Struck by the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis, the Star Wars actor tweeted out, “I really fucking hate racists.” When confronted by other Twitter users about his seemingly unassailable opinion, Boyega refused to apologize. It began when Boyega posted a tribute to Floyd, the unarmed black man who was killed when a cop pinned his neck to the ground while he was handcuffed. “This just burns,” the actor wrote. “Seems to be a never ending cycle. The murderers need to be charged severely. Even in the face of death this man was given zero empathy.” In a separate follow-up tweet, Boyega shared his aforementioned opinions on racists. And because the Twitterverse is a swirling netherworld of echoing contempt, people actually to...
While we are all out here trying to regain a sense of normality, not much is more painstakingly traditional than the stress of your recording getting taken down due to copyright. Now, Instagram, the social media giant that lives under the Facebook umbrella, is imposing a new initiative they dub the “90-second rule” in order to prevent copyright issues on tracks being used during these livestreams. Instagram has implemented a new pop-up to warn users who are featuring more than 90 seconds of a copyrighted track to stop or risk having thei...

As previously reported Instagram has very strict copyright policies in place that prohibits music to be played a length. While many behind the wheels of steel quickly found a way around the algorithm was to use sound effects and cut the records up, it all came crashing down when it seems the uber popular social media platform started enforcing their protocol to the letter. Several music masters found their streams continuously u...
