Jorge Mendes rubbishes Cristiano Ronaldo’s Sporting Lisbon return links

Former Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will not be returning to Sporting Lisbon this summer. The Portuguese international has been linked with a fairy tale return to his boyhood club ahead of the 2021/22 season after enduring a mixed campaign with Serie A giants Juventus. Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro also fuelled speculation over him going back to Lisbon by claiming she would ‘talk to her son about a return’. However, despite speculation over the 36-year old’s next move, as he enters the final year over his contract in Turin, his agent Jorge Mendes has confirmed there will be no move this summer. “Cristiano is proud of the title won by Sporting (this season), as he has publicly demonstrated,” Mendes told an interview with Portuguese outlet Record. “But at the moment his career p...

Gaspard Augé’s Escapades: Out From The Shadow of The Justice Cross Into a World of Epic Fantasy

Who is Gaspard Augé? Fans know him as the more mysterious member of French electronic duo Justice (which, for a group that only appears with a new album every five years and is better known for smoking cigarettes than actually speaking, is saying a lot). He’s the one with the big hair and the mustache, always peering through yellowed sunglasses but never with a smile. He’s mostly quiet in interviews and likes to wear a lot of vintage rock t-shirts, but what is going on in his mind? Apparently, it’s a Mongolian rider storming through the Turkish mountains, playing violin by horseback. That’s the scene of his one-minute visual released in celebration of his latest single “Hey!,” the second from his forthcoming debut solo LP Escapades. As the title suggests, the 12-track collection is an adve...

FIFA supremo urges restraint in punishing Super League clubs

FIFA president Gianni Infantino says he is not in favour of sanctions against the 12 clubs that tried to launch a European Super League, preferring “dialogue” on football reform. The plan to create a closed competition was “unacceptable” and “unimaginable”, the world football boss told French sports daily L’Equipe in an interview published on Wednesday. “Certain actions should have consequences, and everyone must assume their responsibilities,” said Infantino, who has publically joined the opposition to the project. “But you always have to be careful when you talk about sanctions. “It’s said quickly that you have to punish. It’s even popular — or populist — sometimes. “By punishing a club, for example, you are also punishing players, coaches and fans, who have nothing to do with it.” He sa...

Their relationship is actually like a day in the life of a parent. It’s unpredictable, but it gets better and better with age. Guetta and Afrojack have linked up more times in the last decade than breakups and ice cream. And each time seems to give rise to a different kind of sound, triggered by an innate propensity to take risks. They’ve now joined forces once again to test the waters of a risky sonic direction—albeit a familiar one. Afrojack and Guetta today released “Hero,” a soaring progressive house track that turns back the clock to the early 2010s, when the genre dominated the festival circuit à l...
