ICC ruling brings hope for Palestinians, dismay for Israelis
Many Palestinians see a ruling by the International Criminal Court that it has jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories as a belated chance of justice for victims of Israeli attacks. But for many Israelis, Friday’s ruling is worrying because they say they are the “good guys” defending themselves against Palestinian violence. The ruling, delivered by a pre-trial chamber of three ICC judges, could lead to criminal investigations of Israel and Palestinian militant groups including Hamas. DJ Cuppy, the daughter of billionaire business, Femi Otedola, on Monday noted she has filed a law suit against Davido’s Personal Assistant, Israel over alleged defamation of character. Israel last week while reacting to the disagreement between the popular disc jockey and Zlantan Ibile, described Cuppy as a fake friend. Zlatan during an interview during the week had claimed that he does not know who DJ Cuppy is after featuring in her song in 2019. Israel claimed that Cuppy featured Zlatan in her song and failed to pay him despite making money from the song. European Union backs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for WTO role
The European Union has endorsed former Nigerian finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the next director-general of the World Trade Organisation, Bloomberg reported. The business news outlet cited anonymous officials familiar with the matter that all the 27 EU member countries agreed on Monday in Brussels to support Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala. The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has warned against perceived neglect of the non-pharmaceutical protocols and other measures aimed at tackling the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country. The PTF chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, gave the warning at the daily briefing by the PTF on Monday in Abuja. Few days after opening his goals account for the season, Nigerian forward David Okereke has tested positive for coronavirus. Okereke’s Belgian team Club Brugge in a short statement on their official website on Tuesday confirmed the positive status of their Nigerian forward.
