Young music sensation Nandi Bushell is using her platform to get the word out on the impacts of climate change. The 11-year-old multi-instrumentalist has teamed up with Tom Morello’s 10-year-old guitar-playing son Roman for the new song “The Children Will Rise Up,” with Jack Black, activist Greta Thunberg, and Roman’s dad making cameos in the music video. Nandi recently returned to her UK home after a whirlwind trip to the United States that saw her play drums alongside Foo Fighters during their concert in Los Angeles. On that same trip, she jammed with Tom and Roman Morello, revealing that they had collaborated on a new song. Now, that new song is here, with Nandi and Roman both displaying their incredible musical skills. The pair of youngsters co-wrote “The Children Will Rise Up” with th...
Tenacious D, the rock comedy duo manned by Jack Black and Kyle Gass, started July with a rambunctious tribute, a medley of two classics by The Beatles, “You Never Give Me Your Money” and “The End.” “Tenacious D are paying tribute to the greatest band in the world…not themselves…The Beatles!!! In the spirit of healing the world….please enjoy tenacious d’s mashup of two classics from Abbey Road,” the band says of the release. It arrived on Thursday with a music video where Black and Gass travel to London, sing atop mountains, and dance on the beach. They basically take you on the ideal vacation… besides those 15 seconds of chaos. You’ll see. See Tenacious D in their stylish outfits, and lack thereof, in the “You Never Give Me Your Money / The End” music video below. [embedded ...
After nearly three decades, Conan O’Brien’s tenure as the longest host in late-night history has come to a close. The final episode of Conan aired Thursday on TBS, serving as a fitting tribute to the comedian’s 28 years on the air. The episode opened with a Simpsons sketch in which an overly-excited Homer Simpson conducted O’Brien’s exit interview. While discussing the moments that stood out to them most throughout Conan history, Homer recalled a fairly vague interaction: “There was a time you had this actor on, and he was promoting a movie. And you asked him if there was any wacky stuff that happened on the set, so he told this mildly interesting anecdote,” he said with a laugh. When it came time for O’Brien’s last monologue, he reflected on the show’s 4,000-hour history, admittedly hesit...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-06-04T20:49:40+00:00“>June 4, 2021 | 4:49pm ET Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass has reworked the Ramones classic “I Wanna Be Sedated” into a timely tune called “Vaccinated”, and he’s recruited a number of his celebrity friends for the music video. The comedic musician changed the words of the legendary punk tune to promote COVID-19 vaccinations. He sings, “Twenty, twenty, twenty-four hours from now/ I’m getting vaccinated/ Waited so long that I wrote down this song/ I’m getting vaccinated.” Among those joining Gass in the music video is his Tenacious D bandmate Jack Black, who prances around in doctor’s scrubs and a pair of giant needles. Also making appearances are Evanescence singer Amy Le...
Eight months into the global pandemic, people are starting to feel that fatigue. But it looks like Jack Black has plenty of excess energy and humor. The musician and actor, suited up in a tiny red swimsuit, with a hose spewing water on him (courtesy of “hose water technician”), got wet and went to “werk” on Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s smash hit, “WAP.” Like hordes of TikTok videos recapturing the iconic dance, Black does his best to high kick, twirl and undulate along to the song. And yes, he does do the pelvic moves on the floor, too. And it looks like the world is loving it, too. Public Enemy commented on his moves by saying “Nice Windmill,” while Robert Downey, Jr. said, “Get it!” Jeremy Renner, Beck, Naomi Watts, C...
The trend of charity livestream table reads is about to knock you back on your coal-mining asses. Jack Black has announced he’ll lead a reading of the pilot script for his failed 1999 comedy series Heat Vision and Jack. Written by Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty) and Rob Schrab (The Sarah Silverman Show) and directed by Ben Stiller, the Fox pilot Heat Vision and Jack is a wonderfully weird lo-fi vestige of the ’90s. It starred Black as Jack Austin, a former astronaut granted super-intelligence when his space capsule gets “inappropriately” close to the sun. However, his knowledge is only enhanced during daylight hours, returning to normal at night. Owen Wilson voiced his companion, Heat Vision, the result of Jack’s unemployed roommate, Doug, merging with his own motorcycle. Together, they stumbl...
Tenacious D teleported down from their space station on Tuesday night to join Jimmy Kimmel for a late night chat and rock session. The duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass Zoomed in to promote everything Post-Apocalypto, from their latest album to their newly released graphic novel (which apparently features 96 hand-drawn penises). Despite causing a ruckus in their own homes (with Black flailing around a Pickle Rick pillow), the D assured Kimmel they were responsible rockers respecting quarantine. “There’s only like three bands that don’t quarantine now,” joked Black, “You’ve got Kanye, you’ve got Smash Mouth, and Kid Rock. But other than that, everyone’s on the same page.” Black, who was wearing Black Sabbath’s Black Lives Matter shirt, went on to explain how the band’s 2018 album, Post-Apocal...
Tenacious D hit Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (Sept. 22) for a socially-distanced performance. Before performing a quick combo platter of the songs “Save The World” and “Post-Apocalypto Theme (Reprise)” off 2018’s Post-Apocalypto album, actor/singer Jack Black, sporting a shorn head, looked into the camera and said “Save the world, Jimmy. It’s up to you.” The duo did the appropriately titled tunes, which clocked in at less than two minutes, joined by a socially distant band. Watch the Tenacious D performance below. The late, great Ronnie James Dio would have turned 78 today (July 9). Though he wasn’t around to celebrate, his longtime pals did instead. In a video that was released by the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, a number of Dio’s peers and friends honored the late-singer in footage that was compiled from over the years. Dave Grohl remembered the singer as “one of the greatest singers of all time,” and cited seeing him perform on TV when he was “13 or 14 years old” as one of the reasons why he wanted to become a musician. “He would give all of his time, energy and love and attention to do good things,” he said. Jack Black agreed, saying that Dio was one of the greatest heavy metal singers of all time and that he “such a sweet, genuine dude.” Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler an...
As promised, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross reunited on Wednesday night for the Mr. Show Zoomtacular Annual Business Call Event for Charity. In addition to raising funds and eliciting some good ol’ fashioned yucks, the two strung together what has to be the most star-studded rendition of “Weird Al” Yankovic’s Michael Jackson parody “Eat It”. Joining the two co-stars in the unexpected sing-along were Bryan Cranston, Sarah Silverman, a very bearded Jack Black, Patton Oswalt, Fred Armisen, Al Franken, Paul Scheer, Heidi Gardner, Rachel Bloom, Alison Pill, Amber Tamblyn, John Hodgman, Tony Hale, and Odenkirk’s Better Call Saul co-stars in Rhea Seehorn, Michael McKean, and Michael Mando. Of course, the legend himself “Weird Al” also tagged along. Dubbed “We’re All In This Together”...
Who said good things can’t come from celebrities joining together in song? During the Mr. Show Zoomtacular Annual Business Call Event for Charity, a bunch of comedians and actors covered “Weird Al” Yankovic’s breakthrough hit “Eat It,” which, duh, spoofed Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Participants included Mr. Show’s David Cross and Bob Odenkirk (and his Better Call Saul co-stars Rhea Seehorn, Michael McKean, and Michael Mando), Bryan Cranston, Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Fred Armisen, Heid Gardner, Jack Black, Paul Scheer, and former Sen. Al Franken among many, many more. Of course, Yankovic was thrilled with what he saw from the clip, which was titled “We’re All in This Together.” He appeared in it as well. “Truly there’s no problem that can’t be overcome when you get a bunch of ...
