Jack Harlow Will Host and Serve as Musical Guest on Next SNL Episode

Saturday Night Live is really working the double-duty hosts/musical guests this season.  Megan Thee Stallion just appeared as both last night (Oct. 15) and the show announced that Jack Harlow will be the next in line to host and perform on its Oct. 29 episode. It will be the first time Harlow hosts the late-night sketch show. Last year, he made his first appearance as the musical guest on the Maya Rudolph-hosted episode. Harlow has been cutting his hosting chops as of late, recently appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in which they split duties at the desk. In the episode, which aired on Oct. 6, Harlow helped Fallon with his monologue and interviewed guest Dwayne Wade. Ironically, Harlow followed Megan Thee Stallion in that role too. In addition to Megan Thee Stallion,...

LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj & Jack Harlow To Host 2022 MTV VMAs

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz This year’s edition of the MTV Video Music Awards will be a truly unique one, as LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow have been named as the emcees for the event. The network announced on Thursday (August 18th) that instead of one artist serving as the emcee for the night, they are calling on the Hip-Hop trio to do the honors which include introducing the major performing acts for the awards show. The move marks a return to the origins of the awards show for MTV, as comedic actors Dan Aykroyd and Bette Midler served as hosts for the first show that was held in 1984, and a group of MTV’s own VJs (“Downtown” Julie Brown, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn, and Dweezil Zappa)took over the reins in 1986 and 19...

Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J and Jack Harlow Will Emcee 2022 VMAs

Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J and Jack Harlow will serve as the closest thing the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will have as a host on Aug. 28, as they will announce the performers, presenters and winners in a “more innovative and unique approach” than the usual proceedings. As previously reported, Minaj will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award this year and will also perform. LL Cool J also received the Video Vanguard award way back in 1997. He performed on the show twice in the 1990s but has not presented an award since 2000. Harlow is up for artist and video of the year at this year’s VMAs, and is tied for the most nominations with seven. He will perform solo during the broadcast, following his 2021 VMAs teaming with Lil Nas X on their hit song “Industry Baby.” Anitta, Blackpink, J ...

At The Disco, Kane Brown, and Nicki Minaj, the latter of whom is receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Lizzo will perform “2 Be Loved,” from her latest album, Special. She’s up for four VMAs this year, including artist of the year and song of the year for “About Damn Time.” Harlow, who is tied with Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X with a leading seven nominations, will perform an as-yet-unannounced song. Jack Harlow Rocks Lil Nas X Shirt At BET Awards To Protest Snub

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Many people took issue with BET snubbing Lil Nas X from the annual BET Awards (on Pride Day no less) and surprisingly enough, Jack Harlow turned out to be the most vocal person on the subject. According to Popsugar, the “Nail Tech” artist decided to protest the Lil Nas X snub and took to the awards show rocking a Lil Nas X shirt and posed up a storm on the red carpet in the attire to let everyone know LNX should’ve been there with him. He was. In spirit… and in shirt. Still, we’re sure Lil Nas X would’ve preferred to have been there as he’s been vocal about his displeasure over being snubbed. Prior to the show, Lil Nas X called out the network after receiving zero nominations this year, despite being awarded with various accolades fr...

10 Chart-Toppers That Sample or Pull From Past No. 1s

“First Class,” the second single from Kentucky rapper Jack Harlow’s album Come Home The Kids Miss You, is one of the biggest songs of 2022 so far, reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 twice since its April release. One reason for the quick ascent: the familiarity of the chorus, which samples Fergie’s vocals from “Glamorous,” which also topped the Hot 100 back in 2007. Since Billboard began publishing the Hot 100 in 1958, nine songs have topped the chart more than once by different artists, like Little Eva’s 1962 original “The Loco-Motion” and Grand Funk Railroad’s 1974 cover. But as hip-hop began to take over the charts in the 1990s, sampling old hits has become the most notable method of reviving pop’s past. And in recent years, interpolations with replayed elements of old hits have kicked up a ...
