John Mulaney returned to host Saturday Night Live on Halloween this past weekend, and he walked away with perhaps the coolest Julian Casablancas costume. Well, sort of. The Strokes served as the evening’s musical guest, and after wrapping up the episode, the frontman gifted Mulaney the same hip trench coat he wore during the band’s performance. The stand-up comedian relayed the fashion anecdote during a lengthy and super entertaining interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers that aired on Monday. John Mulaney is officially returning to Comedy Central for two new specials. Headlined and executive produced by Mulaney himself, both specials will be continuations of John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch, his Netflix special released last December. That 2019 children’s musical comedy project was inspired by TV classics like Sesame Street and boasted cameos from David Byrne, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natasha Lyonne, and more. A press statement teases that one of the two upcoming Comedy Central specials will be holiday-themed and “will reunite the cast from the original” Sack Lunch Bunch, so be prepared to again see Byrne running fun science experiments.
